Should Benavidez get credit if he beats Gvozdyk?

David is climbing up a weight class against a renown power puncher in Oleksandr, who after his loss to Beterviev he had been unactive for nearly 3.5 years, however the Ukranian has been active in 2023 fighting three opponents, agaisnt Josue Obando (20-35-2), Ricards Bolotniks (20-7-1) and Isaac Rodrigues (28-5-0). He might not be on his prime anymore, but I believe he still quite a dangerous fighter being a top 5 ranked opponent like Yarde or Smith. The guy who gave a life-threatening brain injury to a accomplished fighter in Adonis Stevenson.

I read some contradictions/loopholes of boxing fanatics (or more like Canelo fans) in the media text that if Benavidez loses it's because he doesn't have much skill and primarily uses his size to win fights, but if he does manage to win then it's because Oleksandr "The Nail" Gvozdyk isn't what he was cracked up to be OR after single loss with some recovery time, he still had declined too severely. Either case it's just not a win scenario for him.

As of other news, Benavidez is training in another camp now in Miami for months under another trainer, with his father being busy with other fighters in Seattle checking on his son progress often, he has been sparred with Super Middleweight ranked fighter Vladimir Shishkin and retired former fighter Andre Dirrell.

He also been taking notes from Guillermo Rigondeaux

Surely, Gvoz might have lost a step but he is still a good strong fighter.

I agree, if Gvozdyk wins he also deserves his due credit as Benavidez is a physically big super middleweight with a solid resume on him.

What I find interesting in this bout is that Gvoz has 3 back to back camps with smooth fights, after one another. So he is probably in very good shape physically. Should be a good fight.

Don't know if the layoff affected him one way or another but he is a good fighter that has been active as of late and the winner gets full credit from me.

Ofcourse he won't just like Canelo got zero credit for beating callum Smith....only Beterbiev gets full credit for beating certain guys.

Betterbieve Beat Smith" oh my got he's the greatest thing ever"

Canelo whoops Smith " aww no biggie who's Smith anyways"

No Gvozdyk = former champ with no real legacy.

                inactive and old.

stylistically favors Benavidez too. So no

Yes he deserves credit, he is in a new weight classes against the man who ended the long reign of the pimp and has only lost to Beterbiev. If Benavidez stops him impressively it would be a better win than most 175lbers have currently in the division which puts him clearly in the running for a shot at the winner of the undisputed title fight.
