    "blown out over twelve rounds"

Is this a thing that can happen? I mean i've heard of being 'blown out in three' but 'blown out over twelve' is a new one to me

        Interesting interview.

Seen this video already , really makes you think
I can attest that Artur’s punches can be heard in the third row of the bowl for how hard he punches
I like the thought that people think he’s just a mauler
        Bring on the unification

From the article, I'd forgotten Dariusz Michalczewski, and went back to
check him out on YouTube. In his prime he was a beast, as was Roy.

As for this fight, Smith has reach, speed, sharpness on his side... but then he's
fighting a monster in Beterbiev. Anything can happen, as we've seen a lot of recently.

Beterbiev will hurt this guy pretty bad.

Check out Moloney v Nakatani. That's "blown out in 12" if I ever saw it. A game guy fighting bravely gets beat down over 12 rounds, ending in as brutal a KO as any with 18 seconds to go in the fight.

I think what gets me about Beterbiev is that he's also really accurate with his punch placement. Hits with a lot of impact and in damaging places. He's not just punching where he sees an opening.

I thought he was starting to look vulnerable in the Yarde fight though. I question whether Smith has enough dog in him to stay with Beterbiev, even if Beterbiev is ring rusted and old, but if he does, I think he's got the skills and power with those extra 8 pounds to make it a harder night for Beterbiev than people give him credit for. Just not sure about the grit.

Is he the guy who had to retire because of a bad back?? The one who KO'd Jacobs?

So long as Beterbiev and his team are focused, this should be a fine performance for Artur. I do worry about the hometown bit, though. It is easy to get distracted when you are hosting a big fight where you are loved. A ton of distractions that normally you would not have in a training camp. Throw in all the questions and prodding about the Bivol fight FINALLY looking not just possible but probable, you have extra reasons to not be as sharp in camp if you are naturally looking ahead to what may be next. I expect Beterbiev to not care and be ready. He is a machine that approaches boxing as a job, a job he is overqualified for. Throw in Smith looks better as a 175 fighter than as a 168 fighter, and you better be taking this serious. But the distractions are there.

While I still see a TKO of Smith the most likely outcome, I would not be shocked to see this be the first Beterbiev fight to see the final bell.
