When I heard Tyson bestow that this young boxer was future of division, I laughed like most things that come from Fury’s mouth but I have been watching his last fights and there is potential. Jared is not ready now but he has some tools. With the right matchmaking and right confidence I could see him as a world title holder.
I think the Martin fight was exactly what he needed. Anderson was able to get some rounds in but most importantly in his young career, fight somebody who truly wanted to win.
Nowadays I think too many fighters pad the record with competition who are just going through the gears to get a check. I call them 9to5er Boxers.
You could see from start Martin was locked in. I’m sure Jared discovered new things about his skills and things to improve. I wish more young fighters would be matched in fights like this in the beginning. These types of fights build character.
I’m curious how they match Jared moving forward, the future will tell best if he is truly championship material. I saw they are revisiting the proposed fight and think visa issues will be sorted.

I like how Jared responded after getting hurt but man I hate how he pulls straight back and doesn't take his feet with him.
I saw someone say they should match him with Wilder. That would be promotional malpractice.Wamb Cyborg Fangerloo like this.

Martin is a sparring partner level opponent, he loses every time he steps up, he just gives his opponent rounds, he doesn`t come to win at all.
People laughed when I told Kossobutskiy would have knocked out Anderson, but I was probably right.
Jared should fight Takam next, Takam is a little better gatekeeper than Martin, he will give him tough rounds also.Damn Wicked ambitious9000 like this.

That was a real test for Jared. Having to go a full 10 and deal with being badly hurt. Probably valuable experience in the long run. Cant be too harsh on his performance because he did thoroughly outbox Martin for the most part and hes still probably 4-5 years off of his prime.Cyborg Fangerloo likes this.

Anderson will have to admit to himself that he isn’t a one punch guy and won’t be swatting out the top people, he’s going to have to adjust his style to more of a boxer puncher. He needs to adjust that now. No more trying to swat people out in 1-2 rounds. Learn to pile up points, learn to give angles, learn to jab off the back foot.eco1 greeneye99 like this.

Joshua beat prime Whyte in his 15th fight and he destroyed prime Martin in his 16th fight. Levels.

Anderson is very good, but is he the next great American heavyweight after Tyson, Bowe and Holyfield? Nope.
Wilder would probably knock him out, but would be interesting.
The media do hype up new prospects quickly, but shouldn't hype too soon when they're beating tomato cans. One can see properly once they step up in competition.
Having said that, you can see a truly all-time great even when they've had only a few fights, like Louis, Ali, Mike Tyson and Lewis, to name some great heavyweights.
