first step up and he looked very vulnerable, if Martin was more aggressive he could've gotten the upset and major derailment for the hype train.

Impressive in his 15th pro fight after having fought no one close to that level. He needs a couple more years before a championship fight. I’d say another 5-7 fights. Anderson will have to admit to himself that he isn’t a one punch guy and won’t be swatting out the top people, he’s going to have to adjust his style to more of a boxer puncher. He needs to adjust that now. No more trying to swat people out in 1-2 rounds. Learn to pile up points, learn to give angles, learn to jab off the back foot.ambitious9000 TheIronMike like this.

Anderson is a good fighter. He may benefit from a weak heavyweight era once the current upper tier of HW's retires, he is only 23 and has a long career. Tonight showed that he doesn't have elite power.....Joshua destroyed a far younger and better version of Martin quickly. Stopping all those cans made Anderson look incredible.
Anderson showed that he is not a killer when a guy who can crack hits him back. He won via activity. But that last big left from Martin may well have led to something spectacular if not for the bell.
Anderson needs to really work on a lot before he moves up in comp. At this stage I'd say AJ and Wilder both KO him, and Fury would gut him. Uzyk outboxes him easily.

Anderson kinda reminds me of Spence a little. Style is too based on power boxing. Pulling straight back. Starts with schooling, outside of maybe Shakur this class of Olympians from the 2010's seem to have this basic amateurish style it seem as if they just got into boxing in their teenage years an tend to lack in the versatility department. Usually these guys will get clipped at the top level eventually..

Another hype job exposed.
Anderson comes off as arrogant and dismissive of the sport. Talking about retiring at 27 that's like right around the corner when your 23-24, from what he showed tonight 27 would be just about the age where he should be coming into his own as a more complete boxer. Usyk would absolutely crush this dude..Regge likes this.

He may benefit from a weak era but maybe not financially....
The top 4 or 5 heavyweights are all pretty much mid 30s and there doesn't really seem to be any particularly great fighters emerging in the division. But let's say the next era is weaker after those lot retire, the money won't be there in the same way the likes of Fury and AJ generate. Very few fighters generate that kind of money and the next of the heavyweight generation probably won't.
So then you may get promoters rushing their fighters to cash in on the tail end of these heavyweights on their way out in the next couple of years. So they try to rush them through the rankings and they end up getting tonked off someone.

It's why I think bud could be a difficult fight for Spence because he's alot more dynamic and is alot more versatileLast edited by Realizniguhnit; 07-01-2023, 11:30 PM.
