and Id just like to point out this accusation about 'racism' regarding the difference in sentancing between crack and *******. I cant stand it how people look at that and scream RACISM!!! Crack is a more dangerous drug than ******* and has a number of other negative side effects that ******* doesnt. not to mention that during the time that Reagans War on Drugs was taking place, there was a crack epidemic, crack was exploding all over the place...not *******. of course they would want to beat it down.
not to mention that crack is easier to get addicted to because its effects are more instantaneous AND its cheaper to distribute for dealers.
and whats more, ******* usage has plummited since the War on Drugs was started in 1986.
and you know what, even if it was somehow racist, it helped black people. black people convicted for drug usage has decreased over the years, while white people convicted for drug usage has increased over the years.
According to data collected by the federal government, Blacks make up just 13 percent of the nation’s illicit drug users, but they are 32 percent of those arrested for drug violations and 53 percent of those incarcerated in state prisons for drug crimes.
And lets not forget that while the "war on drugs" were going on, the CIA under Reagan were helping smuggling the drugs into America! This is now a fact, no longer speculation as in 1998 the CIA finally admitted to its involvement in drug trafficking in the United States after years of federal investigation by the Kerry Congressional Committee. What the CIA admitted to was allowing ******* trafficking to take place by Contras who were being supported by the CIA!
And never mind all the well documented cases I mentioned of the brutality of his presidency regarding the atrocities in latin america and elsewhere, forget that stuff right? He cut unemployment, even though he cut wealthcare and foodstamps? The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. That was his legacy, in addition to enforcing brutal imperialism in latin america, etc.Last edited by ИATAS; 09-30-2009, 01:15 PM.

In 1981 (the year Reagan was named president) the inmate population was 555,114. Blacks, the poor, and urban dwellers are victims of a policy that seems to be aimed at the literal destruction of an entire generation of youth with drugs.

I dont get it, it seems like our information is conflicting. I dont want to call you wrong or anything, but all my sources I provided said more or less the opposite.
I dont know anythign about his 'atrocities' in other countries that youre mentioning.
and I dont really support welfare anyway. were basically paying people for being unemployed. sometimes its necessary, but people abuse it all the time. itd be much better to use that money to create job opportunities, and Reagan did lower the unemployment rate.
although Im more of the lower class kind of person, I get that the rich people NEED to be rich. they really are the backbone of the economy. the rich pay a huge amount of the taxes anyway, because of the way the tax brackets are set up. they have to pay so much more percentage wise of their income.
In no way do I want poor people to become poorer, but if you want a good overall economy, then you cant keep hammering away at the rich.
and Reagan never authorized the whole Contra scandal.Last edited by Steak; 09-30-2009, 01:26 PM.

I like Kirkland & Anne Wolfe, they've had it so rough you cant help but to cheer for them to make it.
Hopefully Kirkland can do what he can do to stay in shape. The article points out he looked about 40 pounds heavier. I'd imagine the depression of being locked up and not knowing if you're going to get out for another 10 years or not was very unmotivating. Well, now he he knows he could be back in 10 months, there is light at the end of the tunnel. He needs to stay in physical shape while in there, do everything he can to lose that weight and stay as fit as possible.

I'll save you the time because you can't. White, Black, Purple or Yellow you can't.
This is not a race thing. It is an ignorance thing. Quit trying to use race as a crutch. That crutch usually breaks on people before they succeed anything substantial.Last edited by rskumm21; 09-30-2009, 02:17 PM.

Reagan was the ultimate douchebag and the entire reason he was elected in the first place was the "good old boys" from the south (KKK, etc.) endorsed him. In other words, Reagan was himself racist.
Black men are disproportionately ***ed with no matter what party is in office.
Its not ********** or ********, its systemic.
And affirmative action is nothing to support btw, you don't fight discrimination with more discrimination.
