People want to also hide this under the rug, but Chris Algieri was wobbling Khan all night. With a career 9KO’s in 30 fights, that should tell you how many full-fledged welterweights Mayweather needs to KO for his power to be effective vs Khan’s chin. Khan managed to overpower Algieri and avoid disaster. Algieri
Ricky Hatton had a much tougher chin than Amir Khan, but it could not hold up vs Mayweather despite Hatton saying he is too big for Mayweather at 147. No matter how far gone Kostya Tszyu was vs Hatton, Hatton still ate a ton of right hands from him that would have absolutely demolished Khan in 1-2 rounds. The reigning 140 Ring champ Tszyu that Hatton fought, would have destroyed Khan about as bad as Prescott and DSG did.
Mayweather timed and countered the crap out of Hatton. Pacquiao did exactly the same but with a different punch and more power. Both avoided Hatton’s grappling unlike Tszyu, which was his downfall.
There isn’t even any reading between the lines necessary. Your question was actually answered with my rhetorical questions.
