Who is the better fighter between Canelo and Floyd?

Neither were in their prime or best weight when they fought.

but now that we’ve seen more of Canelo career, objectively speaking who’s actually the better fighter between them?

“Better” is subjective. Floyd only travelled 24lbs throughout classes. Canelo started from 140. Canelo is leaping in weights like PAC, Roy, Toney with an average of 50lbs, assuming Canelo does Cruiser.

Canelo is smaller than his opponents. That itself is already a spectacle. He’s basically a slick Duran 2.0. Canelo has ENTERTAINING offensive-defense as well as Locche defense (ala Jacobs and late Round 6 Plant - WHEN he WANTS to).

Canelo also has power that excites his fans. His Counter punching and slipping are for the purists.

Basically, Floyd relied on hom0***ual Haymonite fans. Floyd exploited catchweights with Mexican fighters after first losing to Castillo and then the LDBC fans hyped his nemesis win against a former Flyweight…

Fioyd by a country mile and it's not even close. Just check out their level of opposition. There's no comparison.

Floyd Mayweather fought and beat better fighters. I see people bring up the jumping of weight classes by Alavrez 'Well he is only able to jump up to 175, because he was taking advantage of the day before weigh in rule, and weight draining himself to be the big man'.

So technically when Alvarez is fighting at middle-light heavyweight he is really only fighting at his natural weight. Manny Pacquiao when he moved through the weights, I would say it was more impressive 'Because he was having to rely on his attributes more to make up the difference in size'.

Floyd Mayweather routinely throughout his career, was sometimes giving away 15-20 pounds to his opponents. Alvarez himself the night he fought Mayweather probably weighed inbetween 20-25 pounds heavier than Mayweather.

Technically anybody who is honest, can see that Mayweather was the all around better fighter. Better endurance, better movement, better defense, better at winning rounds, better adaptability. Maywweather made Alvarez look unfit, slow and confused. There looked to be levels, at-least 1-2 levels in performance ability between the two fighters 'And I don't think those levels have decrease greatly, Alvarez has just gotten bigger and is facing opponents not as good'.

Caleb Plant is not as good as the Miguel Cotto or Shane Mosley skill for skill which Alvarez fought. It is all somewhat of a illusion that Alvarez has improved greatly into this another level fighter. His competition is worse.

Canelo Alvarez is a bigger puncher than Mayweather, and it is this punching power that has gotten him out of trouble when? He was clearly being out boxed, or had no answer for his opponents. Where as Mayweather always had to rely on his boxing skills, in order to turn the tide 'This is evidence that in raw form, Mayweather is a better fighter than Alvarez'.

Alvarez was being out boxed and had zero answers for Amir Khan, if Alvarez did not hit as hard 'I don't think he would of won that fight'.

But he did for the smart thing and time Khan, but really? He was only able to get that win due to Amir Khan's lack of punch resistance and his punching power. Alvarez just like Danny Garvia, had no answer for the speed and blitz action of Khan.

Alvarez is a great fighter, one of the best pound for pound active today 'Most likely number 1-2'. But there is a level which I personally don't think he has reached. I don't think he is on the level of Roy Jones Junior, Floyd Mayweather Junior, Manny Pacquiao, and probably even Bernard Hopkins. Hopkins for me would beat Alvarez at 160 pound's, during his peak reign. Joe Calaghe, Carl Froch I also think would beat Alvarez. I think the era he is competing in his below par.

There is nobody active in this era who has reached the level of Roy Jones Junior, Floyd Mayweather Junior of Manny Pacquiao. Alvarez is in and around Oscar De La Hoya, Joe Calzaghe type of levels. Fighters like Bernard Hopkins skill for skill overall was just ahead of these guys, and you could argue that skill for skill maybe Alvarez is as well 'But that does not mean for me, that he would beat fighters like Carl Froch & Joe Calzaghe' genuine, strong middle-weights with extreme endurance.

Nope. SRL lost to Duran. SRL is miles above Duran as a complete fighter. Though nobody ever brings up his loss to Duran. So Canelo losing to Floyd will diminish over time and Canelo will supersede Floyd. Canelo has fought more difficult opponents than when Floyd got to 30 years or age. Floyd never fought guys like Trout or Lara whom were known to have better china than a Judah. The only thing Floyd did that comes close to a serious power puncher like Canelo to GGG was fighting Canelo… however, Canelo never had the luxury to fight GGG at catchweights twice!

Floyd is only relevant because of Oscar from their fight and because GBP helped promote Mayweather fights.

Floyd dominated better fighters, Canelo best fights are all controversial.

It's not close. Canelo been outpointed, outboxed, numerous times.

And both guys cherry picked throughout their career so no point in bringing that up
