Marquez has never fought above 135, and even at that weight was not the same Marquez that arguably beat Pac twice. Adding 10 pounds will only hurt him even more. Floyd had the athletic ability to move up to 140 and 147 without losing anything, Marquez doesn't, and besides Floyd has been at at least 140 for a long time now.

It would be a fair fight against Pac for Floyd where it isn't for Marquez because Pac is a proven commodity at these weights. He hasn't lost a damn thing moving up in weight, whereas Marquez has. When he spark out the best fighter at 140 the way Pac did, any concerns about weight are gone.

To review, Marquez has gotten worse going up in weight, Pac hasn't. Marquez isn't a fair fight for Mayweather, Pacquiao is.
    Those are excuses and assumptions.

Cotto and Clottey would give Floyd much more competitive bouts. I would love to see how Floyd handles Clottey, I've never seen him fight someone that style before.

Boxing is a sport, it's all about the competition. Jmm vs Floyd is not as good as a fight as Floyd vs Cotto would be and I bet ppv numbers would support that if the fight happened.
Floyd vs Cotto would be a better fight. I agree.

but that doesnt make Marquez vs Floyd a crap fight. Floyd is still coming off 2 years inactivity, which is pretty much always a bad thing, although I dont think it will drastically hurt him.

its people that say that this is not a high profile fight that tick me off. of course its a high level fight, are they joking?

and I do believe that Marquez is more skilled than Cotto and Clottey. its not too often you get two guys as skilled as Marquez and Mayweather in the same ring, and because of that some aspects of the fight will be more entertaining than a Mayweather fight against Cotto or Clottey

MARQUEZ HAS ALREADY BEEN WEIGHING IN AROUND 143 SINCE HES BEEN FIGHTING AT 135. HES NOT ACTUALLY ADDING 10LBS, HE WEIGHS THAT MUCH ALREADY.
yea, putting it in caps was too much, I apologize.
Floyd will weigh no more than 6lbs more than Marquez on fight night, and thats all that really matters in terms of size.

whats funny is that when Pacquiao went to 135, people were playing him down and using his fight against David Diaz as 'evidence' that he would lose to DLH, since it took him 9(?) rounds to beat Dave.

just because Marquez is unproven at the weight doesnt mean hes garbage there. for the millionth time, I dont think Marquez can move up in weight as good as Pacquiao, but I(and a fair share of others) would give him a good chance against Hatton.

If you do not like it don't talk about it then . I don't understand why you are so hung up on being against this fight just because of the weight, Floyd is bigger but not that much bigger. Weight ain't nothing but a number if one is skilled enough, and a weight advantage means nothing if the other fighter is not capable of using it to their advantage.

The better man will win plain and simple~

I completely agree to an extent.

                  Pacman killed DLH
                  Mosley beat DLH
                  Pwill crushed Winky

To me an upset isnt out of the question. Cuz truthfully all it takes is 1 punch. Marquez is a counter puncher and been active for awhile and Mayweather been gone nearly 2 years..
Marquez is also ranked 2 P4P. I'm not sayin Marquez will win, but this isnt a huge mismatch like every1 thinks. Dont be surprised if Marquez wins is all i'm sayin

Hatton is one thing, Floyd is another, and Marquez would struggle with Hatton. Pacquiao's at 126 and 130 was an athletic freak, so him having this success at 135 and 140 isn't a huge stretch. Marquez has never had those advantages, relying on his incredible boxing IQ. He was able to beat Juan Diaz and Casamayor because they aren't exactly great athletes themselves, but he didn't look great doing it. Floyd did once fight at 130 and 135 but he has been past that for a while and like Pac has tremendous athletic talents that will allow him to easily beat Marquez. Marquez athletically cannot compare to Floyd, and if he fights Pac at any weight between 140 and 147 Pac will probably have a much easier time than he did in their first two fights as well.
