This is much to do about . . . The Internet.
I suspect that Teofimo Lopez has just learned that you can't speak in everyday hyperbole or someone like Akopyan or BigPopPapUmp will blow it way out of proportion with an unnecessary teaser headline.

People need to realise it's chemical
Serotonin deficiency.
The chemicals in your brain don't care how rich you are , or how poor you are.
Yes, other factors can also add to the symptoms.
I have suffered from really crazy anxiety and depression most my life, it's a horrible, brutal affliction.
My mother also took her own life due to depression a couple years ago. This is very real.
I look at Teo and I believe him. He exhibits the subtle nuances you see in people trying to hide or battle this stuff
Fury, I saw right through his act though. Not saying he didn't have some issues, but he exposed himself as lying about the severity without realising it in various interviews...those of us that know...know.
Anyway, what I'm saying is money, fame all that ish, means nada to the illness.

This is a generational issue.
This reminds me of an old saying
"Hard times create strong men. Strong men create good times. Good times create weak men. Weak men create hard times."
We're at the stage where weak men are creating hard times.
The good news is that the hard times will create strong men, I guess.Cypocryphy Ropeydope like this.

I think a large part of his insecurity comes from running his mouth, and him knowing inside he can't back up the talk. He knows he got gifted a BLESSING when Loma decided to sit on his ass and gift him the win and he knows it is all likely downhill from here unless he steps up... unfortunately, we all know he would not beat Loma again and would have a hard time with anyone at the top levels as he thought bums his entire time...
On the flip side, yes, metal health issues are real, BUT I bet if you give any of these people a choice of being who they are here, or a being gay in the Middle East, or a woman in Asia, or ANYONE in sub-saharan Africa... NOT ONE of them would trade their life. Life has become too soft for people here where their worry at this point is if they can buy a second Lambo.

Also, if a lot of those guys are worried about being soft, maybe it's because they live among wolves and don't want to become the next victim. It's not like they're professionals, working 9 to 5 in the free world, who want to give people emotional healing. They live in the pen.
Anyplace where dudes get brutally beaten, shanked, and ****d, is no place for opening up about emotional sensitivities
The brain was not meant to get hit. Research shows trauma to the brain causes depression and other mental health issues. The reason this happens is because you disrupt the chemicals in your brain. Disrupting the chemicals in your brain leads to mental health issues like depression.
I guess it is not as “common sense” to someone who’s profession is not in that field. But it should be common sense. I guess it could be seen as much as a blanket statement as an aerospace engineer telling some guy off the street about the dangers of sending humans to the moon or Mars.
If I took a saw to your shoulder, I hope you can deduct that your arm is going to get chopped off. As arms were not meant to get sawed at. Just like the brain is going to suffer if it gets physically shook repeatedly. It’s really just common sense. If you need support for that, or proof, then I don’t know what to say to you. Go e-interview a psychiatrist or something and grill him about what I said. They will tell you the same thing.

Kids are soft these days. Maybe it's a sign of the times. Maybe this just happens sometimes. It certainly seems to be an epidemic with all of these younger people thinking of offing themselves. I do believe it has something to do with social media because there's an extreme amount of toxicity out there in the media and Internet. However, you have to have thicker skin than that. You know? Ultimately who gives a flying **** what anyone else thinks, especially strangers. But I personally believe the father is a driving force behind Teofimo's negativity. His dad helped create Teofimo's internal demons.
Anyway, he said this:"People say what's the sacrifice. People think sacrifice is killing people. But the sacrifice really is just love, and that starts with you. That's what happened with me. I took a step back and was like, man, I'm really thinking about killing myself. That's how serious it got. Not once. Not twice. Maybe like three times. I was like, that ain’t right. Why am I going to want to kill myself with the blessings that I'm receiving?"
And you know what? This isn't the first time I have heard him say this. It's not the first time he's wanted to "self-destruct." He wanted to do that after the Nakatani fight. So this is not new behavior. And he's mentioning it because he wants sympathy. He wants pity so that people take it easy on him. This could be an honest feeling he's having or it could be manipulation. I think there is some truth to it, which means that everyone better watch out when this kid loses a boxing match. It's going to be ugly. And I wouldn't be surprised if he does end up killing himself at some point. Part of me expects it, to be honest. He probably should be in some kind of therapy right now. Whether true or not, he should be given the benefit of the doubt and someone should help him with this. Like I said, this is a repeating issue for Lopez.Last edited by Cypocryphy; 10-08-2021, 03:44 AM.

The whole idea of "chemical imbalance" is theory, though the term has become de facto explanation for everything mental. If it was a matter of chemical imbalance, and oft touted pharmaceuticals simply rebalanced those chemicals, then we'd all be smiling all day long.
Anyway, getting hit in the head a lot can cause issues. That's solid science right there. But some boxers have issues later. Some don't. And just because a boxer has issues, that doesn't prove causation. Maybe he had issues since he was a kid.
But it seems you're taking it a step further and claiming to be able to diagnose people from afar, even if they don't seem to exhibit problems.
You can say I don't see it because it's not my my profession. Maybe the reason you "see" it all so easily is because that's what you want to see.
