When a fighter is overly cautious, when he negates his opponents attacks with a hug or grabs. A great example is Wladimir Klitschko.
Stewart almost had a heart attack when Wladimir fought Eddie chambers, but to his credit he did get the KO.
He does have a lot of KO's but he is boring i.m.o.

Wlad vs Fury, every John Ruiz fight, Rigo fights, etc. Any defensive fighter with a very low output of punches will fit the bill.Tony Trick-Pony likes this.

For me it's not about the KO or slugfests, although I love those, the Gatti/Ward fights being among my favourite.
It's activity level combined with skill. I could watch Holmes and Ali jab someone over an entire 15 round fight and not get bored for a second. They were graceful, the jabs were like works of art and entertaining to watch. Similiarly, Pacquiao is entertaining in all his fights even if he doesn't score a KO because he's active as well as skillfull.
Early Hopkins, Naseem Hamed, RJJ, Tyson, Holyfield, Hagler, SRL, Hearns and many more all entertaing to watch and for me personally because they all went for a KO if they could and if they couldn't they wanted to inflict hurt (in most of their fights anyway).
Fighters who from the moment they step into the ring have already decided to go for a points win put me off and I will NEVER watch them fight, except maybe watch their highlights on YT to see the result. And even then it's still boring and that's supposed to be the best parts of the fight.
I also hate boxing purists. If you're not watching boxing to be entertained then you've missed the whole point of prize-boxing. They always forget the "hit" part in "hit and not get hit". So they're always spouting nonsense like, "well you know, I mean...it's hit and not get hit..." STFU! you hardly hit the guy! Rant over.Tony Trick-Pony likes this.

For me it's definitely huggers! I like seeing a skillful performance from the outside. I also like seeing guys who go to war like everyone else. I do NOT like when guys rely on the ref to save them whenever someone closes distance.Tony Trick-Pony likes this.

if they cant land clean effective shots they are heading down the boring road unless they bring all out attack scrap type of stuff at times to make up & force their opponent to engage tooTony Trick-Pony likes this.

I wont say boring but Shakur Stevenson is disappointing to watch. I always feel like he could be a finisher he just lacks the killer mentality that I'd like to see from himTony Trick-Pony likes this.

For me its not even just negative styles I find feather-fisted pressure fighters excruciatingly boring too watch.
Pillow punchers with weird slapping techniques that don't punch through their target ala Nathan Cleverly bore me to tears.
I just can not stomach sitting through 12 rounds watching a guy pile it on, throwing 1,100 & landing virtually all of them yet the other guy hasn't a single mark on him, not a trickle of blood. He's not hurting, his heads not even jolting back its just so repetitious that my mind switches off.Tony Trick-Pony likes this.
