roy jones knows that the only way for him to be relevant in boxing again is to fight b-hop. this is a perfect example of "what goes around comes around". when roy was still big force in the game, hopkins was beggin him for a rematch and roy kept acting like a ***** over the money. ever since 1993 bhop was asking to fight him, and let me tell all yall RJJ fans this, 1993 was a long ****ing time ago, why do yall keep bringin that fight up as if it was a dominating performance by roy, the fight was close, see for yourself its on youtube.

hopkins is light years ahead of roy as far as greatness goes, having speed doesnt give you a ticket into the hall of fame, roy needs to take the 40 % and STFU, hopkins will gain nothing by beating a roy jones that has been KO'd twice and spanked like a baby by calzaghe. roy has everythin to gain, if he beats bhop, then he revives his dead career.

hopkins is at the top, roy is at the bottom. hate it or love it thats the way it is and bhop has the right to call the shots.

antonio tarver beat jones twice, arguably 3 times, the first one was razor close( bhop crushed tarver)

glen johnson damn near killed jones (bhop easily whooped jonhson)

calzaghe spanked jones ( calzaghe beat bhop in a razor thin decision that should have been a draw if you have eyes)

jones is coming off a win vs. jeff lacy and sheika
get serious for yall that think roy is better, like jay z says "men lie, women lie NUMBERS DONT" check the stats

this is my prediction HOPKINS VS JONES II ( hopkins by execution)

If Hops is sure he would beat Roy, he would take the lions share to the winner and get it done. Same deal Jones offered in 2002 and Hopkins turned down.

The clear win over B-hop gives Jones the leverage he needs and I don't give a crap how long ago it was, he has an 'L' next to his name where Roy is.

      Peace on it.

I'd rather they fight again and both retire after than anything else either could do at this point. It won't happen tho.

Just asked my old man what he thinks of this fight if it happens again.

          He said in exact words:

"They're both old, Roy is shot but still beats Hopkins. Don't let the Pavlik fight fool ya."
(he's a big fan of Hopkins btw, not so much a Roy fan)
You should be proud to have such a smart old man.

That's all fine and good but what you fail to realize is that Jones beat B-hop while he was close to his prime and didn't actually lose until it was obvious he wasn't the same guy that had moved up to heavyweight. It's common knowledge that prime Jones toys with and probably knocks out Tarver, Johnson and Calzaghe.

Anybody here read the thread that was posted last week. "Roy and Bernard exchange words." Well on that thread there was a link, that took you to a phone conversation in Philadelphia between Bernard and Roy last week. I had a lot of respect for Bernard before that coversation and none afterwards and here's why.

Before Roy was knocked out, Bernard was all over every radio and boxing outlet talking about how he wanted a rematch to REDEEM, his lone loss (at that time). When the radio producer asked bernard would he give him a rematch now, Bernard asked a weird question "How much is Roy going to say he wants "on record". Since when is a boxer concerned with the losers portion of the purse. Roy asked him, "How much would you be willing to give me" Bernard responded back 60/40 in his favor. Roy said that he wasnt going to agree to 60/40, but he'll agree to 60% for the winner, and 40% to the loser. Now to the casual boxing fan i would think that was fair, i mean just because since then Roy has been knocked out twice, doesnt take away the fact that he beat Bernard handily, and if you watched the fight back in 93 or on youtube, it was clear to me that not only was he beaten, but from the 4th round on Roy only used left because he hurt his right hand.

When the radio host asked Bernard if we was so confident about winning why would he not agree to what most fans NOW would think to be an easy paycheck. Bernard went on to list his accomplishments OVERALL in the sport. Mentioning how his 20 straight defenses of his middleweight crown was and still is a record, how he came up in weight to beat both guy's that knocked Roy out, how he shutout and dominated a young, undefeated (IMO overrated fighter) in Kelly Pavlik. In contrast, he went on to talk about Roy Jones' feats during that same period. How he was knocked out twice, fought bums to earn a fight with Calzaghe, and how he was "Pimped Slapped" during that fight. To boost his claim, Bernard got a text message during the conversation from a friend asking the radio station and listener"s pound for pound where is Roy Jones on anybody's list? So to fight Roy Jones now (In his opinion) wouldnt add anything to his legacy? It his opinion, to fight a former shell of Roy Jones would be like 'Rocking the Cradle", NOT SO FAST.

80% of Bernard's career was overshadowed by Roy Jones. Seriously, and if your over 30 like me most would or somewhat agree, who the **** gave a **** about Bernard Hopkins when Roy was in his prime. Bernard was never considered and outstanding or great fighter when Roy was doing his thing back then. Roy was a 1st ballot hall of famer, 2years before he was knocked out against Tarver. Im not a boxing expert, but im way more than a casual boxing fan, so back in the 90's I was just as into the sport then, as i am now. Bernard just started making Roy Jones money FINALLY, after he defeated Tarver. Im not saying he wasnt paid, or he wasnt financially established before then. Im just saying he just started making millions a couple of years ago, and Roy was making it 10 years ago, and still doing so now.

So why Bernard can try to fool the casual boxing fan into believing that he's challenged more by fighting Thomas Adamek or Chad Dawson (who Bernard only seems to mention when Chad's already scheduled for a fight) is "pulling the wool over boxing fan's eyes". Im not basing my opinion on word of mouth or hearsay. A lot of boxing fans believe this fight would be a boring encounter inside the ring, with a lot of ducking, dodging, pop shotting, etc.,,. But with the amount of trash talking that has occurred over the past month, somebody would have to step up in this fight, and IF it ever happened the fight would be a lot more entertaining, then the CASUAL, boxing fan might suggest. I apologize for the long post im replying too, but im not speaking as an outsider of the sport, with no clue on what goes on behind clothes doors. I heard the conversation like 3 times already, and the only thing i can say, to be fair to Bernard, is that the only reason he doesnt want to fight Roy Jones, is because it's a high risk, low reward fight for him. Bernard has always had problems fighting guys who were faster than him, from Roy, to Jermaine Taylor, to Calzaghe, **** ( even Winky Wright gave Bernard a handful). To Bernard, from brother to brother, ****** to ******, IF YOUR SCARED, JUST SAY YOUR ****ING SCARED, cause after listening to the interview, THE ONLY REASON THIS FIGHT WONT HAPPEN, IS BECAUSE YOU DONT WANT IT.

Pride will kill this fight. I am sure it already did.

They won't ever agree on a purse even though both would make a ton.

i agree, and its not a guarantee fight with either fighter, but it would be a better fight than it was 16 years ago.

Negotiations have taken place a few times but the two fighters have never been able to get past the dispute of who gets the bigger split of the money for a rematch. Both of them are looking to get 60% of the pot. Jones won a twelve round decision over Hopkins in 2003 to capture the vacant IBF middleweight title. [details]
I think the writer has made a mistake, I'm almost certain that Jones beat Hopkins in the early 1990's. It was his first title I think, middleweight. He went on to great fame in super-middle, light h-heavy and heavyweight, whilst Hopkins stayed at middleweight and fought nobody of any real talent or reputation.
