Whats up with the Puerto Ricans lately?

I hate to generalize like this, so forgive me, not all of them are doing it of course, but it just seems like a lot of them are completely downplaying the Mayweather-Marquez card, despite the fact that it features two of the most skilled fighters in boxing today(dont harp on about the weight) and has a very good undercard, full of name fighters and potentially good matchups(most notably John-Juarez 2).

people harp on about the weight, which yes is something to consider, but Mayweather hasnt fought in about 2 years now, right? besides, Marquez has been weighing in over 140 on fight night for a while anyway. hes still obviously the smaller man, but dont exaggerate. yall were dead wrong when you said the same thing about Pacquiao-De La Hoya.

and even if Marquez is over his head because of the size differential and everything, you dont go through a fight with guys as talented as these two without being impressed with the skill level.

Im all for this PPV, it has a great undercard and theyre simply marketing it smart. I hope other big cards take note, and even improve on it.

Thank You. We need more posters like this. If you don't like the card then don't watch it. Period.

I don't think it's the PRicans doing it I think it's just ppl that don't like Floyd in general.. Most PR fans are Cotto fans and I think it just has to do with the Cotto/Floyd rivarly more than bc they're Rican... Everyone who hates floyd is downplaying this bout

boxing fans concentrate far too much on who wins, instead of just enjoying the match itself and what takes place in it.

and I think thats the problem with a lot of yall on here. enjoy the fight. just because you 'know' whos going to win doesnt mean you cant be surprised by what happens in the fight.

I'm not Puerto Rican and have been saying this fight is pointless. GBP HAD to make a good undercard from all the scrutiny the fight was receiving along with the comparison to the UFC's cards having 2-3 main event type matches. This doesn't seem like a coincidence? How many of those fights on the undercard now were there for the original July 18th card?

GBP are doing what they have to do to promote the fight. But considering Floyd is this "draw", they're really pulling all stops on selling this fight while another fight 3 months away is damn near sold out off the Main Event alone.

The fans themselves spoke on this one. Most of the Floyd fans on here are barking at Cotto fans when it's really the majority of Boxing fans who aren't THAT eager to see this particular fight. You replace Marquez with Mosley or Pacquiao...then you have a different story.

Hell no man I can't wait for this fight and 100% rooting for Marquez and the weight issue isn't really bothering me since Mayweather will probably have a harder time making the weight than Marquez.

I just wanna see a good scrap and we saw one last saturday with Diaz-Malignaggi(which he was robbed) but that's another issue.

I'm still thinking of ideas for my friend who did the avatar bet with me in the Marquez-Mayweather bout

holy ****, who cares if Floyd is a 'draw' or not? this is a stacked undercard with two of the most skilled fighters today fighting one another.

holy ****ing bull**** you people are like maggots, coming back to the same old bull**** over and over again. you care more about whos the bigger ppv draw and whats popular than respecting the fact that you have a great card.

stop the bitching, be thankful and give credit to the promoters for stepping up for once, regardless of the reason why.

Pacquiao huggers and Cotto huggers are cut from the same cloth ; if their "guy" ain't fighting, they either ignore the card completely or go out of their way to **** all over it.

Especially when you consider Cotto fans hate Floyd (for the most part), and Manny fans hate Marquez (again, for the most part).

Mayweather vs. Marquez is going to be electric and I'm looking forward to it much more than Pacquiao/Cotto because to me ; Floyd/Juan Manuel is a much more interesting technical fight, whereas Manny/Miguel is basically a foregone conclusion ; Pacquiao stretches him.

Anybody not looking forward to this fight needs to find another sport to follow.

Because it doesn't get much better than this.
