I think people are missing something about the Williams/Cotto matchup.

Whats up with Cotto's footwork and angles,compaired to Winky,Cotto's better at this,Cotto is better at that,Winky is/was a defensive genius!!Cotto has taken more punishment in 30+ fights than Winky has in 50+!!All I'm saying is do not try to downgrade Winky's skill to make Cotto look better!!Winky's top 10 defense of this generation,could not brunt the Punishers onslaught,there is nothing defensively,that Cotto can do better than Winky!!!The only way to beat the Punisher,is probably to match his offense!!Quintana did win the 1st fight,but the Punisher has improved in every fight since and believe it or not,all 3 fighters he fought are bigger and stronger than Cotto!!!

Williams was a virtual nobody when he fought Margarito. Tony could've made much more fighting Cotto for another title. Those two facts are undeniable.

what i'm saying is that, THAT FIGHT was still his biggest payday to date.....

williams was his MANDATORY. margarito wanted to fight cotto, and he figured he would be able to get more money if he had HIS belt also. so he decided to fight PW, so he wouldn't get stripped, and go into the cotto fight as a beltholder also, making it a bigger fight. it just didn't go down that way. margarito figured he would have more negotiating power, if he fought cotto WITH his belt, so he fought williams to avoid getting stripped (1) and (2) they had bad blood from a sparring episode.

i don't use that quintana fight, because more than anything, it was a fluke....

not really a fluke, but it was a case of one guy preparing, and one guy not. in the post fight interview, quintana even stated, "I told Paul Williams not to overlook me."

williams didn't take quintana seriously the first fight anybody can beat anybody when someone's not prepared.....they can fight 5 more times, and williams stops quintana five more times.

If you are gonna say the first fight was a fluke then everyone else can just as easily say the second fight was a fluke
