Cintron, Collins Sr. Speak on The Margarito Controversy

Aside from all the bleeding, Cotto wasn't really that badly beaten up, atleast compared to Billy Collins Jr. Not much swelling, broken bones or anything like that, just a big cut and a bloody nose.





After a couple of days Cotto was back to normal while Collins suffered permanent damage to his face and eyes.

Curious also for Collins Sr. to suggest that the damage Cotto sustained can't be caused by a glove, when, in truth, we have innumerable examples of equal or worse beatings inflicted in fights where no such tampering has ever been suspected.

Can't really criticize Collins Sr., though. His emotions are involved, and those may be clouding his judgement.

That's the point I'm trying to make. I think this is all just a tactic Richardson uses to get in the other fighter's head. But this time it has grown way out of proportion, and those with something to gain from discrediting Margarito are running with the worst-case scenario.

At the time of the Hopkins-Trinidad fight, I thought Bouie Fisher was Hopkins' trainer, though, not Richardson? And AFAIK, Fisher never said anything about plastic (or plaster) falling out.

Richardson was the chief second, as he was in the Mosley/Marg fight. He was recently quoted as saying something also fell out of Tito's wrap that night.

That's bull****. He just came out with that Trinidad thing now...never heard anything like that before. I believe Bouie Fisher was the primary witness anyway and didn't mention that. Plus, Trinidad went on to knock Cherifi and Mayorga out after that with "legally wrapped" hands. Obviously no one knows if Margarito or Trinidad were cheating yet but I just don't think that the incidents are the same IMO one has to do with wrapping style the other with a foreign substance...

Trini's hands were just not wrapped the way NYSAC says they should be... its diff in each state, wasnt like he was illegally wrapping his hands packed with dynomite..

Why would Richarson say something fell out at all then if its BS..? he said " just like with Titos handwrapps, we opened them and somehting fell out "..

Richardson is the one that said it, not me. But it is strange that he's saying the same thing about Trinidad after all this time. Which leads me to believe that Richardson exaggerated in both cases, in order to get both fighters to re-wrap and get in their heads.
