Flashy combos and handspeed? Methinks you need to rewatch that fight. Check out Roy's feet from round 1 on. That should tell you the entire story. In fact, check out his fight against Prince abbobobobobobobbobo, he's got no legs there either.

So he looked as good as he could have looked? That's your whole point? Uh okay. So he's a shot 39 and he looked cut and as in shape as he could be. WOHOOO. Clearly this means we should debate how shot he was cause he trained hard.

Another note: Just because a bunch of idiots thought he'd win cause they hate Joe or manlove Roy doesn't mean he wasn't shot.

    Logic doesn't work this way.
welter skelter made a pont beforehand about something being wrong with roy mentally, he pointed out how tarver sid beforehand if roy had any excuses before the fight. thats the pont not where roy was broken but when everyone could see that something was wrong with roy, something was not quite right mentally.

in the build-up to the zaghe fight was the best iv seen roy for a long time again im not talking about this froma physical point of view (you're really got to get think beyond the whole 6 pack and biceps thing) but from a mental standpoint.

during the build up to the fight he seemed like the roy of old in training, he seemed to have that cheeky edge back and seemed to be enjoying the training and being in a big fight again. the fact that he wasn't really going to have any problems with weight is just an added bonus really but mentally it looked as though roy had rebuilt himself.

i agree that roys legs were shot, but his handspeed was there there was a handful of instances when he was tagging joe. there was one instance with a right uppercut as well im sure, but the point is every now and again for the first 3 rounds calzaghes attacks were being punctuated by roys own punches.

He was shot to be fair... I am not trying to take the win away from Calzaghe but everyone knows he hasn't been the same since Tarver in 2004. I genuinely think that a prime Roy Jones would have probably won. Calzaghe still fought fantastically though... it just seemed like Jones couldn't pull things together as much as he tried.

I know there is only 3 years between Calzaghe and Jones, Jr. but Calzaghe is just coming to the end of his peak when Jones peaked about 5 years ago.

just the way he walks worries me. yeah, he has been shot for a long time now. The first KO he should of ran away from the sport.

Roy was considerably past it, but clearly not completely shot. So the 50% of folk voting completely shot is quite laughable really. I voted 50% past it which is still poss too much, perhaps 40%.

Be intrigued to see Reed's post on this, because Reed we know damn well you said Roy wasn't as past it as many thought pre Calzaghe.

A good amount of people also said Roy would be competitve with folks like Taylor.
It doesn't matter what is SAID pre-fight. We SAW how shot RJJ looked in the fight.

I picked RJJ to pick (based on a combination of romanticism and dislike for Slappy) but that doesn't mean he wasn't shot. It just means me and all the other people who thought he was still competitive were deluding themselves. All that matters ultimately is what we saw on fight night, and that was a diminished, gun-shy version of a once great, great fighter who would have finished off Joke Calslappy in that first round, rather than back off and confuse himself as to what to do.

Simple fact is, RJJ is shot to pieces. That fight, thankfully, has come to mean nothing. Joke's fans don't even cite it as a good win on his resume, apart from the freakshow fanboys.

He's a shot fighter no doubt BUT I don't think hes completely shot. Hes still capable of beating B-C level fighters he just isnt good enough to be A Class. So i voted 50%

Equivilant to say beating a B level fighter so really it's just a name on his resume and not a big win.

Yeah RJJ was so shot that people still thought he would beat Calzaghe , now Calzaghe nuthuggers are getting ****ted on because they think he wasn't that shot. Ridiculous.

Yes it does. World opinion from the public and people inside of boxing carry some weight as to just how good a boxer is at any given time based on what they've seen from them recently.

We SAW how shot RJJ looked in the fight.
Looked yes, but he never looked quite so shot facing other guys and probably never would, because he faced the #1 LHW's. He didn't look completely shot against Tito awhile earlier, because he was just significantly past prime, not totally shot. The same was true a while later, he didn't become totally shot in that time.

If you find it easier justifying saying Roy was still goodish in his 3 wins before Calzaghe, then suddenly shot when he faced Calzaghe awhile later, then so be it. But that is clearly far more illogical and less balanced. No point keeping on though, this topic is a beaten horse. Your very passionate about liking Roy and disliking Joe, fair enough but it's not worth falling out over...

                      How is that ridiculous?

So if you back someone to win, and then watch them look completely **** and shot, that means they weren't shot?

                      Yeah, rofl indeed.
