Actually, being that Hatton beat Mallignaggi way more convincingly than Cotto did and only lost to the P4P #1 at the time while Cotto got an a55 whippin from a 5x beaten Margarito, I would have to say Hatton is superior to Miguel. Nothing indicates that Cotto is better, in my opinion. Don't say wins over Mosley or Judah who are way beyond their best and were never on Kostya Tszyu's top level level @ 140.
Too much emphasis is placed on titles and belts. Baldmomir was the Lineal Champ. Does that mean he was this great champ? No.
No, but if you have a belt one way or another you have earned it. Baldomir put in the time and training to upset Zab, so the same goes for Mallignaggi. He was not handed a belt, he fought for it. Cotto could not stop him and barely beat him, while Hatton walked right over him to a TKO.
He said he was hurt worse againt Cotto, but when Hatton hurt him the first time, he basically gave up. I respect Cotto a great deal and think he is a valuble asset to boxing, but you must pay respect to Hatton. He is a lineal champ and boxings biggest draw. He brought more brits over from England 3,000 miles to see him than Oscar got to drive from their home to the Staples Center. That says something.......pay respect.
WHAT CAN YOU TAKE AS AN OPPINION.. AND WHAT YOU TAKE AS A FACT...
you stating that hatton beats cotto as a fact....
welll....
it speaks for it self!!!
ps... i agree with you on the juanma thing.... he have wayy more dicipline.
Cotto was physically broken in that fight and mentally exhausted and beaten. But he did not get his heart taken away, he may have taken the knee to prevent some punishment but even when things went down hill halfway through the fight he fought on for as long as he could. I'm a big Ricky Hatton fan but I don't like that he's **** talking Cotto, especially since everyone knows that he would get his ass handed to him the second he steps in with the big boys at 147.
I take nothing away from Ricky but if he's going to critisize another man's heart and will he should be able to look in the mirror and demonstrate that if he were in Cotto's shoes he wouldn't do the same, and the bottom line is that he can't. He would never step in the ring with Tony, and we all know why.
