The comments were made BEFORE the Margarito fight. Had he said that afterwards, it would be disrespectful. Saying it before hand, just shows he is adept to boxing in general. When it comes down to it, every fighter eventually gets broken down mentally. It just depends on how long it takes them to get there. Hatton apparently knew it would not be too much longer for Cotto and in no way said that HE could break Cotto's will even though I think he could on the right night at the right weight.
That makes more sense, because it doesn't come off as a criticism of Cotto in that way, but as a prediction of how grueling the fight may be. I respect Hatton and am a fan of his but I think Cotto is the better fighter, and if they ever fight (it would have to be at 147 since Cotto is unable to make 140) Cotto would beat him. I also actually think Cotto is more durable that Ricky, especially at 147, he had his scares at 140 but he's rock solid at 147.
