Juan Manuel Marquez: One of the Greatest boxers Mexico has ever produced

Marquez is a great counterpuncher. His timing is almost impeccable. However his defense is overrated. He gets hit way too much even with his fights against bums.

Still, he is a great boxer who would've probably done better in his career because of his abilites had he chosen the right path.

juan manuel marquez is the most overrated piece of **** ever i swear. his only claim to glory is a close loss and a draw to another overrated fighter in pacquiao.

marquez's skills are good but his resume is ****e. he's not even the best marquez imo. rafael is better than him.

all the real mexican greats should be annoyed this guy is mentioned in the same breath as them.

look at the guy's career. up until last year his biggest wins was medina and gainer. 14 years fighting at the time and his biggest win was those 2? pathetic.

this loser shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as barrera and morales. fact.

The more I read on this forum about Marquez, the more I agree with you here. People are making Marquez out to be this special talent allofasudden. It really just came about in the last year too. I don't think he's a piece of ****, he's a good fighter, but some of this praise is getting out of hand.

Marquez is NOT one of the 10 best Mexican fighters ever, nor is he in the same class as Barrera and Morales. They beat the absolute best in their respective weight classes, won multiple world championships in those divisions and produced some of the most memorable moments boxing has ever had. I don't think anybody could make a serious claim that Marquez is a top 10 or possibly even top 20 fighter in ANY of the weight classes he has participated in (historically).

Marquez clearly aint the best Mexican fighter ever. But to down grade him is a joke upon yourself.

Marquez has ALWAYS had great praise from the boxing fans for his skills. And Berstein made bad decisions his whole career but Marquez is now where he should be and where he could of been years ago espeically had he been more agressive as he is now.

As for Marquez defence anyone who thinks its **** must confuse him getting knocked down for ****y defence. Look at his early work and look at his fights. One thing you can't confuse Marquez with is fighters who fight on the back foot and run away instead of dipping or bob and weaveing or going punch for punch which is what Marquez does now.

Marquez has never been one to say how great his is. Or how he's going to beat someone up. He lets his skills do the talking and people talk.

Marquez beat Pacquiao twice. What ever high priase Pac gets or Pac goes on to beat Mayweather that just make Marquez look that much better and Morales as well. But the differnce between Morales and Marquez is that Marquez can still kick Pacquiaos ass. bbbbwwwwaaahahahhahahhah
