Calzaghe: "Screw Hopkins, There Won't Be a Rematch"

Joe Calzaghe says that he will not fight Bernard Hopkins in a rematch. The undefeated Welsh fight continued to call his November 8 bout with Roy Jones Jr, the final fight of his career. He doesn't plan on fighting beyond the November date. Calzaghe is pleased that Hopkins dominated Kelly Pavlik last Saturday in Atlantic City, because when many reporters called Hopkins a shot fighter when Calzaghe won a close decision over him in April. Well he can do that because his delusional fans will argue that Hopkins-Calzaghe wasn't even close.

No surprise. He wants out and the lack of any worthwhile (money wise) opposition make it easy.

The only way he'd fight again is Hopkins at the Millennium Stadium. That's a pension fund plus goodbye party all rolled into one.

Fair enough, he has said that this was going to be his final fight.

Funnily enough nobody was calling for a rematch 4 days ago ...

The first fight was very close but also very cagey and not overly entertaining and I think that would be the main reason why Calzaghe-Hopkins II won't happen. Is the only fight really available after Jones for Joe and would be a good send off at the Millenium Stadium although if he wins again if won't prove the doubters wrong cos they'll just go back to saying Bernard was shot again.
