jones is at the final hall way of his career...but he still a pretty good fighter thats why I'll give Calzaghe credit. that just me.

I respect that. I'd like to believe he's still a pretty good fighter, but he hasn't fought anyone or shown me anything to believe it. That's just me.

But- I've been very consistent on this. **** Calzaghe's 'legend killer' bull****. This fight is interesting for the build up and I hope Jones wins, but I just can't see it.

The drama of this fight is can Roy Jones Jr. shock the boxing world? if Calzaghe wins, then theres no drama. hes suppose to.

I think most Calzaghe fans know that a win over Roy would be a good win but not the same as beating the guy that starched Montell Griffin in less than 3 mins.

I disagree. The majority on this board don't know that. I wish they did, then this fight wouldn't annoy me the way it does.

However, as to your original post, I don't like the strategy. Sure Calzaghe is wide open to counters, but Roy has a bad habit of resting on the ropes. How does Joe win lately? Work rate? So can Roy freeze him with his power?

I'd prefer Roy in the middle of the ring. I think he could beat Joe there- but if he doesn't have the legs for it as I suspect, we he shouldn't be fighting Joe anyway.

based on seeing all roy's fights, the middle of the ring is where he excels. But since hes nearly 40, maybe the rope idea isn't bad. Ecspecially if hes practicing it with fast southpaw sparring partners everyday. it will be interesting...

my guess is that we see some rope fighting and some middle of the ring fighting. i don't think roy is just going to lay there for 3 mins of every round.

I look at this way. If a 43 year old can go the distance with Joe. Why cant a 39 year old? Joe dose not hit hard enough to even consider ROY being scared of a KO or being punch shy. SO with that, look for Roy to take chances. Look for Roy to fight off the ropes and counter solid with fast accurate punching (body shots). I think people are underestimating how smart Jones is.... If HOP can lose a CLOSE SD, I don't see why GLASS jawed Roy Jones Jr couldn't WIN a SD. Roy was scared of Tarver's punches, HE WONT BE SCARED OF CALZAGHE'S.... neither will be scared of the others power IMO... it will be a chess match with speed, work rate, counter punching, heart and over all who the smarter fighter is will determine the winner.....

I cant wait for the 24/7 show. Like I have been saying and like Roy's trainer said today at the press conference, You will be surprised when you see Roy Jones Jr. even at the age of 39 almost 40.

Roy's OLD, not the same guy but IMO he can win this fight. Neither guy will WIN easy.

But like everyone's saying if you look at "paper" Joe Calzaghe would be the obvious pick....

IMO Jones will shock the world...

If a 43 year old can be Ring LHW champion, why can't a 39 year old? If a 43 year old can be still in the P4P top 10, why can't a 39 year old? If a 43 year old can have never been stopped in his career, why can't a 39 year old?

If Andre Dirrell can TKO Anthony Hanshaw in 5, why can't a (now) 39 year old?

                  Herein lies Roy's problem.

Yup. And his only chance of winning the fight is to land clean, hard counter punches against Calzaghe's volume.
