Great Joe, your right Calzaghe is a great champion. 45-0 is crazy.

I think it's a better plan than meeting Calzaghe head on, Kessler met Calzaghe center ring, didn't work. Hopkins who moved and countered was effective, I expected Roy to lay on the ropes tbh.

As for the plan, I'm not sure. Roy will have to land cleaner shots (That probably won't be difficult) but will also have to be pretty consistent so he is not outworked. If he only works 1-2 mins of each round, he will get outworked and probably lose.

I'm looking forward to this fight, it's an interesting match up even if Roy is past his peak.

When Calzaghe wins there will be a million excuses from the Jones nuthuggers even though they're saying Roy's going to win easily...

I don't think Roy has to equal Joe's output every round, but he has to come reasonably close and land the harder/cleaner shots.

I hate JOe as much as I hate brussel sprouts but to me he is the younger better conditioned fighter. He is not as fast nor as strong but RJJ chin is still suspect to me. I would love to see JOne knock Calzaghe the F! out!!!! but I dont see it happening.
Check this out IMO jones is coming in for a paycheck
he is gonna make some good dough and lose
Hopkins is gonna get nearly killed by Pavlik and that sets up a rematch 100 years in the making.
So IMO Jones is not taking it too serious cause he knows he has another big payday with Hopkins after this fight.

No, no way he should try to match Calzaghes output, that would be silly for him to do. I just think he has to work at a good pace consistently (No throw a lot for the min then nothing for the next 2 mins etc). He will land the cleaner shots, his speed and accuracy is still there. But he needs to keep landing them.

Personally, I think Calzaghe wins it. But I won't be suprised if Roy caused the upset.

                  Good idea or bad idea?

Roy has always done the worst against the ropes.(Tarver I is a good example, he was better in the middle of the ring) So that would seem to be a bad idea. However now that hes even older, maybe its a good idea. If he fights off the ropes effectively maybe thats his best chance. Let Calzaghe be the aggressor while Roy lays against the ropes and throws counters...

Maybe thats a better idea than trying to box Calzaghe in the middle of the ring...
It's a good idea if he wants to get KTFO early. He's not as sharp as he once was and he'll end up being the dope in that rope-a-dope.

your not alone. lol. thats the pick everybody has pretty much.

I'm going Roy, I said Roy Jones would beat Calzaghe in April and I'm going to stick with it. Its tough because I listen to what everybodys saying its easy for to start thinking maybe Roy won't win. Logically he should lose based on all the facts we know. But I just feel people are underestimating Roy Jones Jr. People are just looking at his age and his loses and throwing everything else out the window. I also have confidence in Roy winning because I know Calzaghe isn't young either. Calzaghe is only 4 years younger, Calzaghe is no longer in his physical prime either. No athlete is in their physical prime at 36.

I just think all the stuff from both their pasts goes out the window when the bell rings. In the end its a 36 year old fast fighter who punches alot vs. a 39 year old fast fighter who certainly will throw more than Hopkins did. The way I see it, Calzaghe should be the favorite. But Jones shouldn't be the underdog he seems to be based on his ring knowledge, speed, and decent power. Roy still has a sharp punch. Not one punch ko power obviously.
