Jack Sharkey, the nice guy, finishes last against Jack Dempsey. Dempsey goes south, Sharkey fails to protect himself at all times and gets anesthetized.

I think if say Smoger was in the ring that night instead of Newman, Miranda doesn't lose the 2 late point that he lost for low blows. Smoger has always been a stickler when it comes to giving each individual fighter the utmost warnings before he tends to get involved. Now look at what Newman did also the way Nady tends to get involved in a lot of his fights. He's wlays been a huge point deduction ref. Member TRinidad and Vargas. He was taking points away without giving either fighter a real chance with a warning.

I will say, though, that when someone resorts to childish insults during a discussion, I often tend to ignore much of what they have to say after that point, and I think most other people do, too. You may notice that when I'm posting on this forum, I very, very rarely get rude or pissy with someone, even if they get that way with me first, and there are a couple of reasons for that. I've already given you the first reason...people tend to disregard anything else after you've been rude, but I also feel that, if I'm going to be a smartass with someone, the least I can do is have the courtesy to do it face-to-face, so that if they want to take a swing at me for it, they can...and of course, vice-versa. But hey, I'm an old fashioned kind of guy

All I'm saying is that constant intentional fouls have no place in the sport, in my opinion, and that fighter has no place in the HOF...again, my opinion. And Speiglo is right, in part at least, about my age. I was taught a keener sense of sportsmanship because I was raised in a different era than you kids were, but don't go thinking that I don't believe in fighting dirty, either....just not in the ring. Oh, I'm not going to mash a guy's nuts into jelly in a simple barfight (that I probably would've started anyway, just for fun), but if I'm deep in the ****, anything goes.

Hopkins is 43, Casamayor I believe is 73, and Barrera is old as **** too. These guys fight dirty, age has nothing to do with it they just do what it takes when they are fighting against the odds and are outgunned. It's a rough sport.

And by the same token, someone my age, isn't going to think he's wrong, especially if someone your age is trying to tell him that.

Wanna rematch?
*wins*
I hear ya, I'm not some internet warrior, I just speak my mind if I get rude it's because that's funny to me. Something that comes with my age I guess, but I find myself to be hilarious and love clownin people. If I feel someone is clowning me, I'll do it right back. In person, online, over the phone, it's just who I am. Maybe it's cause I have an older brother and we fought alot growing up. I hear you that I don't want to be wrong, but I've been corrected and generally when I argue it's not to win, but to either share my knowledge and prove a point, or be corrected. I've admitted other people were right in disagreements in the past, even on this forum. I just think you're a doodoo head is all.

Take a guy like Juan Diaz, who had nowhere near the professional experience of Campbell. He was mentally taken out of the fight and was trying for a DQ or TD from round 6 on. Sometimes in life you don't get bailed out and you have to fight, and for 6-7 rounds Diaz was in a prize ring he didn't want to be in.

The sport isn't perfect, never will be (because I'm not king of the world, but if I were, oh, brother would there be some big changes), but I have the right to ***** about any aspect of it I please

Absolutely. Neither did I. But again, we have different refs with different opinions. Some will take alot before they deduct a point. They will warn even 2-3 times. But then they will deduct. Watch Trinidad V David Reid. A lot of point deductions I believe either 2-3 , but the ref did a solid job and gave 2 warnings to each fighter before taking a point. Although a few of the low blows were questionable. But then you get someone like Newman and Nady, who warn once, if you lucky, and jump right into taking a point.
