How Do You Beat Calzaghe?

Of those, Dawson has the best chance, because he's young, fast, skilled and quick, but if he can struggle with Johnson, Calzaghe would give him kittens, he'd apply similar pressure only much faster and more skilfully. If tarver showed up to fight he might make it a good one too, his cagey style is not Calzaghe's favourite and he's much bigger than Joe, but in all likelihood would get outworked.
The rest of the names on there get beaten easily by Joe C.

Johnson punches a lot harder then Calzaghe, has better chin and is a stalker in the ring. He was able to stun Dawson which I dont see Calz doing. I Agree I give Dawson the best chance, Abraham the least. Which u think has least chance?

Pavlik, Dawson, Abraham, Wright, Taylor, and Jones. Possibly Tarver.Last edited by Kris Silver; 08-26-2008, 04:38 PM.

This may be an overly simplistic concept but does anyone think there might be a chance of a fighter with decent pop, good handspeed, and the ability to cut off the ring to just jump calzaghe and bash him up? Like I said it sounds pretty ****** and calzaghe is too good of an in fighter to fall prey to that but it could possibly work...some people have won fights by largely ignoring the technical side of boxing and just slugging...not giving his opponent any space or time at all....or do you think his opponent would probably just get the **** slapped out of them?
One of the major flaws with this idea is I don't have any ideas as to who could pull this off. It would probably work out kind of like the lacy fight. I suspect calzaghe is too good of a fighter to be drawn into something like that. Oh well. Just a thought. I'm not trying to pretend I know a ****load about boxing or anything.

Throw him in with a prime Hopkins, Toney or Roy and he gets obliterated
Nowadays? There's nobody young enough and good enough around his weight class to beat him. If he loses to Roy or Dawson or Tarver, I think you have to say Calzaghe's career was pretty much a big joke and admit that he was overprotected the entire time.

Can beat him, ok yes have a good shot like most boxing matches, but unlikely to beat him overall. Is that what your saying, or do you favour all of those against Joe? For starters, Pavlik, Wright, Taylor and Tarver would not be favoured against Calzaghe by the majority, certainly not now. Perhaps a number of years ago most wouldn't favour Joe. His abilities not to blame there, only awareness of it.
