    How Do You Beat Calzaghe?

What style of boxer do you think has the best shot at beating Joe Calzaghe? His workrate, maybe the highest ever for a SMW/ LHW, and his aggression mean he's very difficult to outpoint and his tough chin means stopping him is unlikely. How would you do it?

Counterpunch him, make him the agressor and counterpunch when he gets wild with counter right hands especially, use a jab to disrupt his rhythm, use feints and foot movement to get him out of position.

So in short, a counterpuncher would have the best success with him.

You need to be a counter puncher with a good right hand that you can use without setting it up with the jab.You also need good head movement and decent defense. The most important thing you need is a plan B,the ability to execute a different gameplan if the first one isn't working.

Straight shots, with good foot movement, patience, and somehow who's prepared to be on the back foot for 12 rounds.

No, Jones doesn't have the legs to do that anymore.

You and a lot of people say a counterpuncher, but I have to say I tend to disagree, unless that counterpuncher is an extremely unusual one with very high output or extremely destructive power.

In general I think waiting for opportunities to land counterpunches against calzaghe is a ticket to a decision loss, because Calzaghe will keep coming at you and return mutiple shots. His opponent will tend to have less opportunity to counter than he will have requirement to defend, exactly as happened in the Hopkins fight.

My view is that basically the answer is Roy Jones. Someone capable of staying right on the outside and keeping Calzaghe at distance, with better foot and handspeed than Calzaghe would have an excellent chance.

Another option is a simple one, a boxer who can truly hurt calzaghe in the inevitable exchanges, but this is true probably for any boxer.

                    Sounds like Roy to me....

I would say someone who has good(not great) hand speed and a active accurate jab to like you said...off set his timing....I was thinkin' Chad Dawson!
