We got Lennox Lewis a couple times, but overall he smashed us pretty bad at heavyweight and would have beaten Bowe too.

Other than that, yeah, the UK has pretty much always been a joke to us

Whats worse is their fighters and fans now consider fighting Americans not that important in a career. Brits listen up we have whooped your ass in war, boxing, and whatever else countries would care about. You judge your fighters by fighting Americans and no one else. We have always been top dog and we are the measuring stick. This also applys to fighters like Kessler and others like him. You arent anything until you fight a top American. Till you step up to the dish you're just a paper champion.
What provoked you to post this nonsense? This will only cause more hate and at the moment there is no defense for the performance in the Olympics or the lack of current champions we have in Pro boxing. Now is not the time to start E-beefs with any nation. You should never talk about any other country but your own considering our nation is in tatters with monumental debt and a monkey for a president. It will never turn out well when you talk negative about British boxing because they just have to bring up Lennox Lewis and how he beat all the best yanks.Their population difference allows them to win pretty much any argument in P4P sense.British boxers deserve just as much respect as American boxers, they all train and work their craft to evolve into a fighter. They both share the same pressures of the nation on their shoulders. There are no American boxers there are no British boxers there are boxers, just boxers.

Naw, I'm a white American. I like Cotto and agree with everything in that post. Country pride is for losers and don't really understand it. Doesn't change the fact that I feel America is still top dog. If I was from Congo I would feel the same way about that.

Well, I disagree in part....one ought to have a sense of pride in one's country, but as for competing athletes, that shouldn't matter unless it's a government sanctioned sport (olympics, for example) a national team, etc. and even then only to the point of friendly competition. When fights and riots break out over ball games (especially you limeys and europeans and your football) it makes me wonder why the sports aren't banned. The US is no better, and I wonder sometimes if we wouldn't all be far better off if televised sports were banned entirely.

I don't give a damn where my favorite fighters were born or where they live. What matters to me is skill, heart, talent, ability, sportsmanship and the type of man they are (not necessarily in that order). Color, origin, none of that makes a damn to me. It's the man inside the hide covering that's important.

Incidentally, per capita, the UK measures up pretty favorably against the US in champion level fighters.

I doubt that someone from Congo would think that "You judge your fighters by fighting Americans and no one else", especially considering that in many divisions, there is no top American right now.

I agree. But 'wahtever else countries care about' would include the number one sporting event that is even bigger than Olympics: FIFA World Cup. England are **** too but at least won it once like France. Therefore US are **** at sports.

You are right, it is not a rivalry and you are not made until you beat top Americans in their prime and dominate in US. Just like I hate yanks who deny that winning in football proves you are top in team sport, I also hate bitter Limey's in denial that Joey's like Calslappy avoided the best in their prime and still got schooled by them ten years later when they hit 43.

However, England is a small island and boxing is the 13th participant sport. Even football does not make top three: walking, snooker and darts. So it is impressive when from time to time people like Lloyd Hunnegan go over and bash Donald Curry, the Floyd of his day! Also, after this Olympics, I think the tide looks like it is turning from USa to the EU.

The majority of Americans like the British. The British haters on this site are nothing more than trolls and morons for the most part.
