Against Cotto, he was, er, Antonio Margarito. Nothing different. Cotto just doesn't have the size, activity or durability to deal with him. Williams does.
You get better with each fight, especially when a world class opponent such as Cotto brings out the best of you. And you can't deny how much Boxing is a 'mental game'. Margarito is on top of the devision now and he thought he was the best even in the days of "Mayweather is ducking me!" so now that he is actually at the top, I'd imagine he's as determined as ever. That's what I think.

In fact, when is the last time that Cotto beat somebody 'inside'? I saw him moving away from Shane the last 4-5 rounds, and moving away from tony the WHOLE NIGHT.

What is this "inside fighter" myth with Miguelito?
**** off are u seriously trying to say he should have stood there wit Tony? He would have landed more shots and he would have landed better shots but he'd get stopped for sure that way, Marg is a freak!

Margarito and Williams have both been @ welterweight much longer than
        Cotto.

Neither one has ever been knocked out there.

Cotto is not the man in the welterweight division as it stands.

        That's Margarito or Williams.

The only man to outfox Williams enough first time round got his head busted inside a round in the rematch.

My point aint even that Cotto is the best thats just my opinion but to say Williams is the best without question is absurd
Under no circumstances can you claim that someone who just got brutally knocked out (um, "quit"?) is the best in the division. UNLESS, he avenges that loss. To me, that is absurd.

If Mayweather got KO'd (AT ANY WEIGHT), would you still say that he was "the best"?

Williams lost a decision in a bad tactical fight. And he avenged his loss in the most authoritative way possible.

Im not asking anybody to put him at the top of the rankings, he lost big, fair and square - get back in the pecking order i get that.
But sometimes the better fighter loses which is what i feel happened here, i think he comes back and regains the championship.

                Tranquilo, princesa.

Nobody is saying that Cotto should have fought Tony inside. Did I say that you ****tional ****?

I was responding to a claim that that Miguel is an inside fighter. Miguel is NOT. not in general...and he couldn't beat Williams by "coming inside" as the poster claimed.

You think it's impossible for a fighter with the 'elite' skills Cotto was said to possess to move in the pocket and wear Tony down there?

Not stop him necessarily, I agree Margarito's a freak in that sense.
But demoralize and mentally tire him?

                  Cotto was hyped too much.

And I think that Tony was Tony.

And I think that Tony WILL BE Tony. He will either win that way...or lose that way. He will come forward, absorbing shots with his universe-class chin (better than world-class), and he will be throwing zillions of shots with both hands. That is the Margarito blueprint for every fight.
