Calzaghe beat and "old" 31 year old Chris Eubank but at 36 Calzaghe isn't considered old.
No I agree Calzaghe is old in the boxing world. But in the Jones fight one can not use the excuse "but Joe was old". Not in this fight. There will not be ANY excuses for EITHER fighter. Even if Jones doesn't win, no one can say "BUT JONES WAS OLD" well so was Joe Calzaghe. In this stage of there careers I think its a fair fight. 5-10 years ago it would have not been. IMO Jones would have toyed with the Welshman. EASILY.

Eubank narrowly missed becoming the WBO Cruiserweight champion and in the rematch he was winning going into the 11th round on all scorecards before the doctor stopped it due to Chris' eye being swollen.

It doesn't matter about what Sheika acheived after that fight, Johnson was a journey man back then so Hopkins' win doesn't mean that much at all.

Calzaghe and Jones are both old but Calzaghe should still win this fight, 5 years ago I'd slightly favor Jones, but not by much.

Eubank narrowly missed it because his eye was absolutely disgusting. How many more times did he fight again after that?

So at what point did Glen Johnson stop becoming a journeyman? I guess getting robbed on the cards makes you a journeyman? He must be a journeyman now since he lost a close one to Dawson. Wait, can you define journeyman for me?

If the Hopkisn who fought Tito at MW fought Joe at 168 back in the day, he'd win, EASY.

              Jones in 2002? Wins EASY.

I'm not a hater, I'm a Calzaghe fan actually, but I highly doubt he beats either of those men back in 2001-2002, no way.

Not really. The fact is that the judges scored it a draw. Your opinion is that they agree with you because in your opinion Hopkins should've been awarded a knockdown and in your opinion they feel feel the same way. But I see no evidence that they would've agreed.

I believe they agree because the fight took place in Ecuador - Mercado's hometown - and the hometown fighter scored two knockdowns yet managed only a draw.

That speaks volumes to me. But I see where you're coming from.

I'm surprised Calzaghe got 27 votes. I thought it would be more like 95% for Hopkins.

Thats because some Calzaghe fans would agree no matter who it is, there little joey would beat'em....

You could put any name from any time frame or weight class and you would have those that say Calzaghe would beat'em.... it's funny.
