    By Carlisle:

Hopkins dropped him in the 1st... Pavlik will drop and finish Calzaghe.
You should come back and post again, when you're sane and lucid. Seriously, though, you base your pick of Pavlik on a flash KD (something that's happened to Calzaghe 3 or 4 times before) from a guy who probably has 30% more power than Pavlik, and a much faster right hand?

He didn't do to Hops what he did to Lacy, or perform in the same way, because they're completely different fighters dude. Like comparing chalk with brie. A much more accurate comparison ppl have been going off is Kessler.
What I meant was total domination
IF he TOTALLY dominated B-hop i would definitely have to say Pavlik wouldnt stand a chance.

B-Hop showed that Calzaghe wasnt as invicible as he was percieved. I swore and made bets Calzaghe was gonna knock out 43 year old B-hop but I was wrong.

Calzaghe and Pavlik is going to be a great super middleweight fight

I've been watching pavlik and this will be an easy night for JC.......Pavlik has nothing for him. Kessler would smash Pavlik and Froch (spelling)would to. Pavlik is sooo over rated.
I'm afraid not. Joe may win a decision, but never by KO. Kelly takes a punch just as well as Calzaghe. Also, there is no way Joe has the kind of power to stop Pavlik. The work rate is about the same , except Kelley has harder punches through a fight. Believe me, Kelly will NOT get walked over. Joe is awesome, but credit has to be given to Pavlik. Look at it this way: Taylor beats Hopkins (2) times more convincingly than Calzaghe did. Pavlik beat Taylor (2) times in convincing fashion including a brutal TKO. Calzaghe beats Hopkins by a slim margin with more miles on the tires. I would say that anyone who is writing off Pavlik as a pretender needs to look at the fight this saturday night and his last 4 fights , sit back & re-think the situation. All this said, I believe Roy Jones Jr. has the style to beat Calzaghe and I believe that is why Joe may turn down the Roy fight. Forget about the weak chin, Calzaghe does'nt hit hard enough.

If he has SO much power why couldnt he knock out B-Hop Kessler or Lacy?? they all went the distance because he isnt that Powerful.

And Pavlik on a flash Kd??? get the **** outta here he won and knocked Taylor out in the 7th.

Hopkins isn't going to get "dominated" by anyone right now. He won't fully engage, holds every chance he gets to keep the pace slow (among other ****ty tactics), and is still in good enough shape to bicycle for 12 rounds if he doesn't throw much (and he doesn't...his work rate is ****). You can't dominate someone who simply isn't there to dominate. Lacy got beaten down because he stood right in front of Calzaghe and traded with him. You won't find Hopkins doing that unless he's in the ring against a much, much smaller opponent (Oscar, for example). Look at Hopkins' fights against larger opponents and compare them to those against the smaller ones. You'll see what I'm talking about.

I'm talking about Hopkins there, not Calzaghe. Hopkins has a very, very good right, with great explosive power, and it's quick (part of where the power comes from).

Calzaghe has very good power, when he bothers to set down on his punches, but for the most of the last few years, he does this rarely. He hits hard enough to get his opponent's respect, but not much more. If he does, he has KO power, but I think he's too worried about his hands. It's been awhile since an injury (that I've heard about, anyway), so he might fight differently against Pavlik. Who can say?

Of course you were wrong that Calzaghe would KO Hopkins, very few said he would because of the styles of the two. Hopkins is very defensive. Joe had a much better chance of KOing Lacy or Kessler because they were trading, Hopkins doesn't do that.

Pavlik is most similar to Kessler in terms of past fights. Similar power, reach and style in some aspects. You gotta start comparing fighters factoring in styles to the outcomes dude, seriously. Just because Calzaghe didn't dominate Hops, as most predicted he nor anyone would be able to, doesn't mean he can't with Pavlik, in the same way he did Kessler, a much more similar fighter, but even then not the same.

I guess I fail to understand why the best player in history (Beckham by opinion) would for some reason come to the USA to play such a world renown sport such as soccer (football).
