Hey man. Sorry that you are getting hit from every angle in this thread. I'm answering to the first part of your post.
Both me and you know, that there is not many people out there that can beat Mayweather, but we also know that at WW the guy to beat is Cotto. Now I completely agree with you in that, PBF doesn't have to prove anything in boxing to anyone. But at WW, Cotto is the guy, Mayweather's career numbers or Hall of Fame numbers were at lower weight classes. Nonetheless, he doesn't have to prove a thing to anyone.
Now if it's all about money, why doesn't he fight Cotto in Puerto Rico. Cotto is a hero there and the venue should produce great numbers and big money for Money.
I don't think it's a smart pick for Mayweather to fight Cotto, anywhere. Cotto can definitely beat Mayweather in my opinion, but we will never know.
I don't agree w/ u in Cotto's stock going down by beating Mosley at his own game. Cotto's speed and jab really impressed me on that fight.

Cotto doesn't need any other belts to Fight Floyd. He is a known fighter, it is a fallacy that he is an unknowned fighter. The argument of Cotto needing 2 more belts in order to bring attention or create a buzz is sbsurd.

A lot of talk about PPv numbers, and who does what and so forth. Floyd is making Ppv numbers because of the guys he fights. Floyd fought Gatti , who was a mainstream figure, known by Joe Blow from Idaho. Floyd batters gatti and creates a buzz which translates to interest in his other PPvs. My point , Floyd needed Gatti in order to make a name for himself.

Cotto turns pro in 2001. He makes his PPv debut in 2006. That's 5 yrs.
Floyd turns pro in 96. He makes his PPv debut in 2005. That's 9 yrs.

Floyd has the numbers over Cotto not only because he has fought gatti and Oscar but because he has more yrs in the boxing game. Cotto has already built his base, now he will expand and attract others who will want to see him. For a guy who is an unkwon fighter and brings nothing to the table, 400,00+ ppvs is pretty good.

Cotto can put very good numbers, and bring more than enough money for Floyd. Trinidad did many times and right now Cotto is just as recognized as Tito was back then. I don't think PBF is running from Cotto, because PBF has always fought the best. But being realistic, Cotto represents the biggest challenge for PBF at any point in his career and he knows it. PBF knows that there is a lot to lose by facing Cotto. Anyway, take care and keep making good points, we may not agree on all but they are very good.

it's simple. floyd has no monetary reason to fight cotto when delahoya and hatton are still out there.

if mosley/judah outsells cotto/margarito, then floyd will fight the winner of mosley/judah instead of the winner of cotto/margarito. So cotto, arum, and hbo need to promote the hell out of cotto/margarito or else we'll never see floyd/cotto. I really hope arum and hbo put up the kind of promotion to make it a huge fight.
