I've often heard that when a black guy boxes with a white guy, you should always bet on the black guy.

Yet now I take a look at all the current titleholders from middleweight up to heavyweight, and 16 of the 20 titles are held by white guys! (I've excluded the interim title and Arslan's and Mundines secondary WBA titles in my count).

I know this is a sensitive question, but are some races really better at boxing? From what I've seen the last couple of years, I've concluded that race has absolutely nothing to do with it! It has everything to do with training, fitness, diet, courage and desire to win.
Intresting in another post i remember you saying that you only started watching boxing after the Klits came through in about 2000.

      Just...stop...now.

I wouldn't be surprised if your story is made up. Assuming it's not your gym teacher is a racist and I'm not talking about racist toward white people, which is all you seem to care about. Racism doesn't exist without having power to enforce your stereotypes for the ultimate benefit of the privileged class. Who holds power in the US? Whites. So even though it may seem that it's injust to white people, it's actually infact a century old racist stereotype that enforces the idea that black people are all brawn and no brain while whites are the opposite. It's initially a sacrifice to rationalize power in the grand scheme of things. It's as though some say "Well, maybe we aren't as good as them in sports but since we have the brains we'll control what REALLY counts...jobs that apply to 99% of the population".

So seriously, stop whining over something so petty. It's like stabbing someone and then going around complaining that you got a cut on your hand as a result.

I became a serious boxing fan around that time, and later learned to follow it on the internet, but the coverage wasn't as good until a few years later. My late uncle was a boxer, that probably had something to do with it too. I was surprised and very interested at the Klitschkos' success, because I'd been told basically that white men can't fight.

Nah, makes no difference. All you have to do is look at a fight like Calzaghe-Lacy and it blows any theory about black guys being better than white guys right out the window. Muscles don't win fights.

It's not totally dumb. I've had conversations with various people over the years (that's 32 years following this sport) who swear black boxers are superior. As much as you may think it's dumb, there are really people out there who think it's true.

There ain't that many Chinese boxing champs either.

They mostly kick ass with the Kung Fu Hustle and eat a lot of rice.

                      Like me.

                      I love rice.
