I AGREE 100%, AND I'M A MEXICAN. RACE DON'T MEAN **** IN BOXING. DESIRE, HEART, BALLZ, AND A GREAT JAB

In my opinion whites cut more easily than blacks, that's more or less I can say when it comes to race.

Throughout history Boxing has been dominated by Guys coming from pretty crappy Backgrounds.
          Agreed.

There's always gonna be exceptions. But the top performers in boxing (especially from the US) seem to usually brought up in poverty/near poverty, or have family roots in the sport (or both).

Eastern Europeans weren't allowed to turn pro until the 1990's because of the Cold War so this is only the beginning of the domination.
******s are "real" everywhere. New Orleans has a murder per capita rate 7 to 10 times that of Moscow. I'm sure Moscow has a lot of ****tty places and the dangers are "real" there, too.

South America's (Venezuela, Brazil, Colombia) slums are probably the ****tiest though.

Black people used to have the hunger. They had to fight opression, and knew how to work hard to get where they wanted to be. Now they think they are Hip-Hop "gangstas" and don't have the desire anymore.

A similar thing is happening currently in the heavyweight division. The eastern Europeans have the "hunger".

. Back in the early 20th century, you had a lot of Italian, Irish, and ***ish fighters who emerged from poor or working class backgrounds, as well as the black fighters.
Nah, it ain't a socio-economic thing. Just look at the UFC, most of their fighters, well, atleast the American fighters have either a college degree or attended college. I know this is a boxing topic, but fighting is fighting.

If a person has the passion, the right attitude and the drive. Then that person will succeed whether he's rich or poor.

Sure, coming from a ****ty background can definitely be a motivating factor, but, there's some people that come into this world that have really high ambitions.

And to answer the thread topic. I think race has something to do with it. Matchup the greatest white/latino/asian fighters of all-time against the greatest black fighters of all-time.

How many times do you think someone of SRR, RJJ, and ALI's caliber would come out on top against fighters from other ethnic backgrounds. Remember, I only picked out three black fighters. The athleticism of the greatest black athletes in boxing are unmatched by other races. Sure there have been some successes, but the blacks when they're good, they're really good, you can't simply argue this point.

I think it has to do more with fast twitch muscle fibers than anything else. It's a huge advantage if you have blazing fast hand speed.Speed can be overcome, but it's better to hit hard AND have fast hands. Fast twitch muscles can only be developed something like 10%.So basically either your born with them or you arent.Just my 2 cents....

It seems that each race seems to have certain built in advantages...

That is why those "steriotypes" about fighters from certain backgrounds arise...

The latino warrior thrives because they have that toughness, desire and all generally seem to have a decent amount of punching power to wear their opponent down.

The slick black fighter uses his athleticism to hit and not be hit.

The white fighter uses textbook boxing technique to carry the day, as well as their own type of toughness and athleticism.

I think there are some advantages that each "race" has, but... they are clearly a small piece of the puzzle. Hunger, determination and desire have a lot more to do with boxing than what race you are from. This board needs to figure that out.
