If George Chuvalo and Oscar Bonavena came along in the 1930s, say turning pro in 1932-33, would they be able to cut it? Would they never be heard of or would one of them be champion?

Chuvalo and Bonavena in the 30s

I believe this kind of question is complete nonsense. One can do nothing except have a gut feeling, which in the end only comes down to whether you like the guy or not.
When one proceeds to espouse a whole bunch of crap that he thinks is insight, he is in fact just shoving his head up his own ass.
With that said, I now proceed to do just that, shove my head up own ass:
Both were tough enough to fight in any era, to be serious contenders, neither had the skill to be champion.
Schmeling-Sharkey-Carnera-Baer-Barddock-Louis:
I think we all agree neither gets by Louis, so by 1937 the door is closed.
I really don't know Bonavena well enough, so I am going to considerate on Chuvalo. I'll leave it to another to evaluate Bonavena.
Schmeling over Chuvalo UD (15)
Sharkey over Chuvalo TKO (12) I think once Sharkey realizes how one dimensional Chuvalo is he will attack.
Carnera vs. Chuvalo is a pick 'um depending who lands big first; who lands big last.
Baer over Chuvalo TKO (8)
Braddock over Chuvalo UD (15) Assuming it's the Braddock who fought Baer maybe even a stoppage when Chuvalo tries.
