Well Douglas stopped him ''back in the day''. I don't even think you need to go back to the likes of Foreman and Ali. I think Holyfield would have always given him trouble, as would Lewis, probably Bowe. You could even add two good fighters with great chins, McCall and Ray Mercer, I think they would have a great shot too.
I dont think a great chin is enough to give Tyson trouble wen he was young. He went the distance several times but completly dominated the fight. McCall and Mercer would have been outpointed by Tyson. Mercer would have been a long tough fight because of his strength.
I will always believe Tyson would have KO'd Lewis with ease. Lewis was never great defensivly and his chin would get tagged early by Tyson's speed. It took Lewis 8 rounds to beat a totally washed up Tyson.
I also think Tyson would of beaten Holyfield. But thats just my opinion.

Mercer and McCall had more than just great chins, Mercer had power and a great jab, McCall was a great counterpuncher with a concussive right hand. These are not two guys who would have been scared of Tyson, they would have given as good as they got. No Boncrusher Smith type fighting from those two guys. I think they would have been very tough fights for Tyson, ones which he could have lost.

Cant argue with that really.
I just believe Tyson had too much for either of them.
When Tyson got knocked out by Douglas, 15 minutes after Muhammad Ali called up Thomas Hauser. Ali said "Will they stop asking me if I could beat Mike Tyson now?"

If true, Ali should know full well of the entire situation and how sports/life works. Then again, maybe it was him just being fed up with being asked the question all the time and wanted people to get off his back.
Could he have beaten that Tyson, yeah, but if Tyson could take that much punishment from Douglas, Ali might not knock him out...also, a "Prime" Tyson, which is of course with Rooney, is a different story: I think the fight could go either way, but two quick points: (1) Ali was a sucker for a left hook and (2) Cus D'amato used to say that he could train somebody to beat Ali...I think he also may have thought a healthy Floyd Patterson could of since he did argue with Ali that it was Floyd's back that made him look bad in the fight.
If there is one guy that could beat/favored over a Prime Tyson, it would of been Ali. The man just seemed to have an answer for everybody, not counting the Parkinson years.
Everybody is beatable, but the circumstances are important.
tyson was the best, when he was not in trouble (jail, etc) but once he start making ****** things, damn, just look at his fight when he was KOcked out by an unknown boxer..
com on....
he WAS the best of his era, but he **** that off, i think he can be fighting the 1 place of all time with ali if he had maintened his pace, and not gettin into trouble...
You are viewing the fight purely as a physical contest. Tyson's weakness was always his lack of confidence and lack of "bottom" (call it grit, character, whatever). He just couldn't hold it together for very long when things weren't going his way. So while Tyson did have a very good left hook, he was not Henry Cooper, Joe Frazier, or a healthy Floyd Patterson in terms of what he had going on between his ears.
It is no myth that Tyson was a mentally flawed fighter. This is clear to anyone with a bit of objectivity. Great and very technical aggressive fighter, right up there with Dempsey in that respect, but he was mentally the most fragile of any of the names offered when the subject of great heavyweights comes up.
Sonny Liston for one, he was significantly stronger and was mobile and had the jab to stop him in his tracks. Larry Holmes and Muhammad Ali in their primes would have also beat him.
the true answer is MIGHT have beat him cause hell ne thing could happen.ahaha
damn usually im the 1 in here arguing with every1 about tyson but hell abe did my job for me.ahaha.
i say this there is limited ppl that saw alot of the old schoolers fight alot and the rest(most likely 80% of the forum)just go with the crowd.most ppl when thinking of tyson see's 95' and on tyson.
