yeah, he is very unnatural. he also was a Rap performer allegedly with his brother who was killed, so one has to wonder.

Oy vay Miller used to drive me nuts...Cossell to his credit was a very erudite guy, but he didn't have to be a freakin' walking thesaurus when commentating. Miller made it seem like to be well educated individual implies being a condescending prick.

I always see his name pop up in threads like this, and I don't understand why.. I really like him, he is better at mma than boxong, but the guy is an actual fan and I respect that..
To each his own, I guess

I like Mauro too. He's steadily improving and other than dramatizing the event, doesn't seem to have an agenda. I've heard he's a very nice person also.

Miller is not worth my words.

It's his AM JD voice that really annoys me and when he starts inventing phrases like..."the 1st stanza is over". He knows very little about boxing...he used to commentate on shopping mall wrestling events in Vancouver suburbs and got lucky getting the Pride gig. I think Showtime must have been on the hook for his contract when strike force ended and moved him over to boxing rather than just pay him out...but to have the regular showtime commentators take a back seat to him is a slap in their faces and just horrible for the fans IMO.

Okay fine, I jumped the gun on him then. He called some really good fights too.

Can anyone tell me why Tompkins was fired from HBO? Or did he quit??

I can understand how some people could find Ranallo's voice and style grating. He does a Japanese wrestling show on the AXS network and he's perfect for that.

Pacheco was the fulltime color announcer for Showtime. Almost every show had him, Steve Albert, and Bobby Czyz doing the announcing.

As for Atlas, he has so many biases and agendas it's ridiculous. He goes on long rants and often ignores the fight he is calling. People seem to love him or hate him. You never heard him on ESPN Friday Night Fights?
