Holmes cut it close to jabbers like Williams and Spoon, and lost to Spinks. Wlad has a case for the best jab ever. It isn't a crazy thought to think that Wlad could win the fight.

Was Holmes in his Prime when he fought Spinks? No. And both those decisions were disputed. Specially the second one.

Holmes around the time he fought Ali is probably the best heavyweight I've seen other than Ali himself. He would dance circles around Wlad all night long.

Wlad was better than Spinks though.

lol. yeah he was. But Holmes in his prime would have smoked Spinks.

              I don't disagree.

Dancing around Wlad doesn't mean you win the fight. Haye is the best example.

I think Holmes stylistically isn't as awkward for Wlad as for example prime Tyson.

What would you take as Holmes's prime? I think Wlad beats the version that fought Ali.

BTW. Who would you favor, prime Holmes vs prime Lennox?

I would take Holmes over Lewis. I think Holmes will beat WK 4 out 5 fights and have a harder time with Lewis (but will still win 3/5). This is assuming Lewis has trained hard and doesn't loose focus (as he's done too often in his career).

I would talk to Ali about that statement.

I think Holmes is stylistically the worst opponent for Wlad, a lot worse than Tyson. Holmes was the best jabber I've ever seen - He's jab was far more educated than the likes of Ali, Wlad, Lennox etc and others who had great jabs. It was a piston he could throw 3-4 times in a row.

I think Holmes when he beat Ali was almost untouchable. One of the best heavyweights in any era- Perfect size. His skills were unbelievable I think. And he could take a good whack as well.

I would favour Holmes over Lennox for sure. His movement would be too much. He's one of the few fighters I believe could potentially beat a prime Clay/Ali.

Yeah, but like I said earlier: Holmes didn't get very good results against jabbers. Witherspoon and Williams cut it close and Spinks beat a faded Holmes. He also didn't fight (avoided?) Pink, who was better than all of them at jabbing.

I think Tyson would be a much worse match-up for Wlad. Wlad could find a comfort zone against Holmes that he wouldn't get with Tyson.
