Holmes around the time he fought Ali is probably the best heavyweight I've seen other than Ali himself. He would dance circles around Wlad all night long.Last edited by LacedUp; 10-15-2013, 09:39 AM.

I think Holmes stylistically isn't as awkward for Wlad as for example prime Tyson.
What would you take as Holmes's prime? I think Wlad beats the version that fought Ali.
BTW. Who would you favor, prime Holmes vs prime Lennox?Last edited by Simurgh; 10-15-2013, 10:13 AM.

I think Holmes is stylistically the worst opponent for Wlad, a lot worse than Tyson. Holmes was the best jabber I've ever seen - He's jab was far more educated than the likes of Ali, Wlad, Lennox etc and others who had great jabs. It was a piston he could throw 3-4 times in a row.
I think Holmes when he beat Ali was almost untouchable. One of the best heavyweights in any era- Perfect size. His skills were unbelievable I think. And he could take a good whack as well.
I would favour Holmes over Lennox for sure. His movement would be too much. He's one of the few fighters I believe could potentially beat a prime Clay/Ali.

Yeah, but like I said earlier: Holmes didn't get very good results against jabbers. Witherspoon and Williams cut it close and Spinks beat a faded Holmes. He also didn't fight (avoided?) Pink, who was better than all of them at jabbing.
I think Tyson would be a much worse match-up for Wlad. Wlad could find a comfort zone against Holmes that he wouldn't get with Tyson.
