On another note, the love-hate relationship between HBO and Jones has always been interesting. It's the network's fault; Jones' contract was absurd. And the last one of it's kind as Roy ****ed the game up for every other fighter after him.

Originally posted by IMDAZED View PostThe idea that Jones - who always wanted to move up to heavyweight and was talking about it prior to Nunn being anything at 175 (maybe Roy could see the future?) - opted to fight Buster Douglas because he was ducking a faded Nunn is a little far-fetched.

He did mess it up for other fighters- but oh well.

King would visit McClellan in hospital and say to his trainer, Stan.,"He quit liked a damned dog."

He lost because he didnt follow the game plan. You can hear Goosen constanlty shouting at him to follow the plan.
Everytime a decent tall rangy southpaw with a awkward style came Jones way he tried to get out of it. Him arranging the Buster Douglas fight came after he had vacated the belt and claimed he was going to retire.
To be honest if I was him I would of done the same thing. You going to pay me 2m no matter who I face? Cool.
