And if you want to classify boxers according to your personal rules that almost no one else in the world accepts, including absolutely no sporting bodies, then that just makes you a contrarian, but in the context of boxing history it's pointless. If a classification has no general support then it's useless. All classifications have to be based on a reasonable level of concensus in order to be of any use.
And if Viktor Kortchnoi came up to me and said "I'm Swiss" I would say "no you're not your as Russian as Wlad *****". Again, I prefer common sense of legalisms.....by the way, in sane world all lawyers would be shot for just that sort of legalistic ****picking.

I don't care whether there is a fighter from NZ listed or not. In fact, I would rather you left it blank than make a ridiculous choice in an effort to look impressive to those of us who aren't historians. When I asked you about your pick, you didn't have anything remotely resembling a credible reason and changed tack, choosing to get aggressive (it's the internet and you're in your 40's. Cong****) and attempting to pick a fight where there isn't one.

PS. I only poked fun at your lack of proof reading because you had arrogantly told a different poster to try reading because he was unaware of an Australian boxer on your list.

      Kia Kaha bro

I deleted my original response to this post as you're not a bad guy and I was being way too sharp with you.

No offence taken Poet, I apologise for saying you're a bit slow when you're clearly streets ahead of the majority in here.

No one is going to come to you and say they're anything. But he's the Swiss National Champion, whether you like it or not. And no lawyers were involved. No lawyers were involved in the decision to allow Navratilova to represent the US either. And no lawyers were involved in the decisions by boxrec and Wikipedia and all boxing historians that I know of to classify Tua as a New Zealander.

And you haven't addressed the point that your or my personal opinion is irrelevant when it comes to historical classifications, and that all such classifications have to be based on concensus in order to be of any use.

C O M M O N S E N S E is the only standard I care about: Whether there's a consensus about is irrelivent to me. Common sense used to be just that: Common. Nowadays it's in short supply. What you're referring to is their LEGAL status.....which I could care less about. You can LEGALLY indict a ham sandwich.....but it doesn't make common sense to do so.

What you call common sense is actually just your personal opinion and nothing to do with common sense in any objective meaning of the phrase. My and most other people's common sense tells me and them that Navratilova is a Czech-American. I'm not saying my common sense is right and yours is wrong, but you're saying the opposite, which is very arrogant of you. It's nothing to do with common sense in any objective sense of the phrase. It's just your or my opinion. And when it comes to history, personal opinions are irrelevant. Historical classifications are and have to be based on consensus, and the consensus is that Navratilova is a Czech-American.

Since you brought it up, Wilfredo Benitez was actually born in New York, NY.
