I answered it.....the problem is you ignored it because you're incapable of differentiating "legal status" (where you can represent Outer Mongolia at the Olympics if you want) and what you ARE (which you can't change and has nothing to do with legal status and who you represent in the Olympics: Lennox Lewis represented Canada at the Olympics.....he's still a Brit). Now I don't know if this myopia is a result of some form of delibrate obtuseness on your part (you seem VERY hung up on legalisms), or whether it stems from something endemic in your world view. Regardless, you either don't get or refuse to get the point.

And as with "common sense", which you use to mean your personal opinion, you are simply labelling anyone who doesn't agree with your opinion as "legalistic". People who think Navratilova is American are no more or less legalistic than you are, they just don't share your opinion. And while you're entitled to your different opinion, you haven't addressed the point that historical classifications can't be based on one person's personal opinion but have to be based on concensus.

And to illustrate the fact that most people disagree with you, I only discovered today that Chisora was born in Zimbabwe. Every article I have read about him up to today, and every television commentator I have seen, has stated that he's British.

As for Lewis, at the time of the Olympics, no one in Britain regarded him as being British. Even when he became a British national it took a long time for the Brits to accept him as such, which is why Bruno had far more support than Lewis did when they fought each other.

I would point out that Lennox was born and raised in Britain so whether he was "accepted" or not is irrelivent.

I think we are simply going to have to agree to disagree because this is starting to go in circles which I find extremely irritating.
