    Yes, that is correct.

same with the US ****** Islands.

I'm not saying my common sense is right and yours is wrong, but you're saying the opposite, which is very arrogant of you. It's nothing to do with common sense in any objective sense of the phrase. It's just your or my opinion. And when it comes to history, personal opinions are irrelevant. Historical classifications are and have to be based on consensus, and the consensus is that Navratilova is a Czech-American.
I don't play the hyphen game nor do I play the identity politics game. It may not be considered politically correct but I've never really given a rat's azz if I was politically correct. People can choose whatever legal status they want and more power to them.....but they can't choose what they ARE. I could become a citizen of Mexico if I so choose.....but I would never be a Mexican regardless of what my passport said.

Are you missing the point on purpose? I find it hard to believe an intelligent chap like you could miss it by accident. Political correctness has absolutely nothing to do with it. Nor does politics. And when it comes to the classifications used by boxing historians, nor does anyone's personal opinion, yours, mine, or anyone else's.

Carlos Ortiz was better than Gomez. Gets ridiculously underrated. He's got one of the great resumes and I think the best resume of any PRican.

And it's not how she's regarded by most Americans, who regard her as a Czech-American, just as they regard Marciano as an Italian-American.
Navratilova was born Martina Šubertová in Prague, Czechoslovakia.

Marciano was an Italian-American, born and raised in Brockton, Massachusetts to Pierino Marchegiano and Pasqualina Picciuto

navratilova is Czech rocky was american.

plus nacratilova didnt come to america till she was 17, almost an adult.

fitz was only 9 when he moved to NZ so one could argue a case for him being from either as he spent half his child hood at each location.

Tua was 11 when his family moved to NZ so not quite half his child hood but still arguable wheter he reps NZ.

personally i would have fitz repping NZ over england and leave tua for samoa. As im sure i can find some almost as good to rep england but i might have a problem finding some one as good as fitz to rep NZ.

this part of the debate is ******, boxers choose what nationality they want to be, and thats simply what we have to call them.

If Bute wants to be a Romanian despite living in Canada, knock yourself out, even though it makes no sense.

never understood why someone would still rep their old country when they moved out of it and have a fanbase somewhere else.
If your old country was so good, why dont you live there?
whatever though, people can make their own choices.
