Hearns was a freakishly big welterweight?

He was the biggest 147 guy I've ever seen, and more than that, he used his height, leverage, reach, legs and size better than anyone else that had similar traits.
Williams fights too small, and someone like Breland was too easy to get inside on. I don't think he had nearly the physical strength Tommy had, who would often literally just hold guys at arms length when they tried to get inside on him or he would take on step back and be across the other side of the ring!

I'd say yes, Hearns was not only freakishly big at 147, but probably one of the stongest welterweights and has one of the most devastating right hand punches of any boxer I've ever watched.

The myth that Hearns was frail and weak as a Welter comes from his die-hard fans looking for some excuse as to why he lost to Leonard. Most boxing historians consider Welter to be Hearns' best weight class.

Would it be fair to say that,
"absolutely no one" regards Thomas Hearns as a small framed welterweight?

"Kronk fighters all tend to look like Ethiopian long-distance runners; the ****e-thin Hearns is the archetype."
this is a 1st hand account of hearns.something, you, jab, and malone dont have
He had made these attributes work for him without a hitch and, whilst some may have wondered how his lanky frame would react when and if he was nailed with a hard shot on the chin, for the time being it was Hearns who was administering the KO inducing blows.
Hearns was one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in recent years and an All-Time great; He was tall and lean
In the days before the fight, Hearns played baseball, changed his eating and exercise routine, and lost a few needed pounds. Steward said, "He didn't have enough energy. When he got hit in the sixth round, he was hurt. Tommy Hearns, who's got a good chin and never been hurt. But when he got hit this time, he didn't have nothing in his body to have resistance to the punch."
After that fight Hearns knew he had to further develop his ring skills and his body. Always slender and tall, his long arms gave him an advantageous reach,
but Hearns broke his right hand and was overwhelmed by the seemingly indestructible and physically stronger Hagler in the third round.
in conclusion mickey, the only guys who seem to think hearns was a massive welter are you and your peanut gallery of jab an benny lol.

What do you think?
however, probably because of second day weigh ins.
Hearns was ripped at 147 and wasn't even considered weak, he often stalked his oponents.

There's some craziness going on outside this board tonight boxing historians
As for my comments relevant to this topic: he was definitely very large for the weight, although he filled out better at 154 (at 147 he was a stick, not necessarily weak though).
