Actually he had 17 defenses. Don't try and make it out as a fact that he couldn't have lost had he not been stripped. Stick with the facts.

You can harp on a little mathematical error all you want. It still doesn't change the facts that Ali was no longer champion after being stripped, and only had 19 defenses. And Frazier didn't have to beat Liston, he won the tourny to decide who would be champion because Ali was no longer allowed to carry that title. Going by your logic Hart, Schmeling, Charles, Patterson and Norton were never really champions because they didn't beat the man to hold the title before them. Lol, that is just a brilliant way to look at things! And even if we do look at things through your warped perspective Ali would have only had 11 defenses before losing to Frazier a far cry from 25, so either way you've lost this argument. i have my opinion, and i said already before i dont care what u think, for me ali is the better heavyweight of the two for obvious reasons:

who beat the higher rated ATG's, ali or louis?
who beat more ATG's, ali or louis?
who faced more awkward styles, ali or louis?
who beat more top 10 contenders, ali or louis?
who was knocked down more in his career, ali or louis?
who got KO'd cold in his prime, ali or louis?

your only argument is joe louis has more title defenses, and ali made 7 within 11 months then got banned.
