Vinny Paz gets into the IBHOF

Well deserved in my opinion. While not the best fighter he displayed the biggest heart. During his time Vinny was only second to Mike Tyson for drawing powe on the east coast I've read. His best fights were winning the WBA title from Gilbert Dele at 154 and his win over Lloyd Honeyghan.

Not HOF worthy. One of the least qualified fighters to get in (McGuigan/Cuevas). Don’t get me wrong, quality fighter for sure but HOF standards need to be higher than that.

But it's the hall of fame, not the hall of accomplishments.

And imo, Vinny doesn’t qualify either way.

You have a right to your opinion, but Pazienza had a huge following and drew tremendous crowds.

That neck brace said a lot. No gimmick. Maybe original enough to get in right there.

As you wrote earlier, "its the Hall of Fame", but its not the hall of famous; meaning they want to bring fame to those deserving not just reward fighters for being famous and drawing lots of attention.

Coincidentally, there was an article on here today about the same thing, it is the author quoted the selection criteria, which states, "Voting shall be based upon a boxer’s achievements in the ring as a professional boxer" to me, how many people saw the fight is more of an outside the ring measurement.

Honestly the medical injury he overcame and to become world champ is what got him in. I’m not mad, not many fighters came back from what Paz came back from.

thats HOF, the perseverance, the integrity of the sport.

The criteria for IBHOF is (supposed to be) based solely on your accomplishments as a boxer, that's their written crtieria.

So despite the name, someone's "fame" should have no bearing on that.

Vinny Paz, good fighter, great story. Not even close to a HOF caliber fighter.
