My main concern with this list is **** Tiger and **** Turpin, and the censorship that is in place.
Come on, it's absolutely ridiciolous trying to protect adults from "unsuitable" names or words.
Moreover, it's an insult to two great fighters.

Around here be thankful they finally put the thread with the last post in it at the top of the page again. I had to offer to come do some programming for them to finally get that done. What are you going to offer them in lieu of censorship, friend?

        My brilliant thoughts.
I just think it's absurd that while there are no restrictions against (for example) posting a vid that contains violence for entertainment, like when Tiger knocks people unconscious, that his first name would be more harmful to our minds. To me, it’s a bit of strain at a gnat and swallow a camel (don’t get me wrong, I like boxing vids).

A European journalist described her experience of visiting a cinema in the US. In the first half-hour of the film, there was plenty of shooting and several dead bodies. Then came this short love scene with a naked man and a naked woman, and several viewers got offended and left the theater. For most Europeans, if they had reacted, it had been to all killings. Who is to decide what’s offensive?

I like this quote: “Everyone has an opinion, and the guy screaming for censorship may be the next guy to have his ideas cut off.”

He hid out at 160 padding his record against a long string of no-hopers, journeymen and long forgotten opponents instead of moving up to 168 sooner to face a prime Jones and Toney. His best wins at 160 were two blown up welters (Trinidad and Oscar). I would place LaMotta, Walker, Burley, Flowers, Langford, Fullmer, Tiger, and a few others ahead of Hopkins.
It seems like Hopkins never wanted that Toney fight.

Hanging in there for a while with Schmeling means only little to me. Schmeling was no great puncher but he KOd little Mickey. Walker had a great left hook with no telegraph on it. Speaking of welterweights, Walker was probably better there--5' 7" is not really a middleweight's ideal build, though it's been done.

              - - TwoTon blew past middlewt like he cleaned out Kentucky Fried. As mentioned, Poppy was sued resulting in a $2/3million judgement to Dibella that Oscar ended up paying for not fighting Roy after signing the contract with Roy and Super Joe as his opponents.

Post the link to that lawsuit. We all know you wont.

Hopkins was sued by a promoter for slander; settled out of court and apologized.

Hopkins did walk away from negotiations for a Jones rematch, but there was no binding agreement so there was no suit.

Exactly. And he had to pay somewhere in the neighborhood of 700k. There was no 2-3 million dollar judgement.

To me, Hopkins has for a long time been overrated. His way of winning was to stink out the place so bad you couldn't tell if anybody won or not. He made the other guy look bad but looked bad and boring doing that.

For me AT rankings are all about who beats whom. I don't care about extended careers in my rankings--who can they beat is what I would ask (of myself).

I will state the following as though fact but we know they are just opinion. Hopkins not only loses to Mt. Rushmore but others as well. Against Monzon he is especially in trouble because he brings none of his usual physical advantages into the ring. Monzon is faster, hits harder, is just as rangy and in as good a shape. Hard to say what either will enter the ring weighing. Large middleweights.

Ray Leonard has everything to beat Hopkins with. Leonard will always strike first and be off to the races while Ho'kins is still thinkin' of stinkin' the joint empty.

Charley Burley whips him. A lot of people mention Tiger Flowers as great. If he was then he whips Ho'kins. If he can't whip Hopkins he wasn't a great fighter. We already know Hokey could not beat Roy Jones as a middleweight.

He will not beat Langford, period.

I sure don't have great faith Hoppy could get through Jackson or McClellan or both.

Cerdan, Lamotta, Benvenuti, Valdez have at least even chances. Hearns has a very good chance.

Those are just some well known names.
