Pacquiao is greater, but it wouldn't surprise me if Whitaker beat him h2h.

        Define "greater".

Historically, in the history of fighters. Which would you say proved themselves a greater fighter?
As the guys above you did.

Thanks for not answering my question. The OP asked who was greater. I asked for the definition of "greater". The extension of THAT question is what is the criteria for measuring greatness in this thread? Or is this gonna be a popularity thing, based on who has the better part in their hair?

              - - For starters, Manny holds the Ring P4P record for most consecutive years listed, most P4Pers fought, beat, and KOed as well as the number of total years listed.

Peashooter also in the middle of Ring's P4P era is dwarfed in comparison as are all fighters ever listed besides Manny.

Most would say Manny is greater due to that factoid alone, but we know most are insipidly argumentative without any basis of facts, so even the definition of greatness is disputed.

Ok how do you generally measure greatness in fighters?
For example, which would you say was the greater fighter, Louis or Ali.
Or how about Duran or SRR.?

This is the correct question, despite the mockery I imagine it will receive.

If you define greatness by accomplishments, Manny clearly wins.

If you define greatness by how relatively great they were at their peak, and the length of said peak, I could see Whitaker getting the nod but it would be about a 50/50 call from me.

We could just look at greater as some kind of an oxymoronic statement.

Great is an absolute; it's like asking who is more pregnant or can one actually create a "More Perfect Union."

Greater - More Perfect really don't make much sense.

[EDIT] The OP could have asked: "Who is the better boxer" - "Who has the better resume" - Etc
