Suggests a lot of pointless, low quality comments. Continue the closed-minded circle jerk, lad.

(Because we all know it is much easier to dismiss something than debunk it when you lack the technical expertise required!)

I don't agree with everything you said but you did put in the effort. You should stick around in here. It could bring good discussions, or angry old men lashing out. Either way I 'd enjoy reading.

I do wonder where the Joe Louis brigade is, normally they'd jump on this kind of critique. Doubtful they'd miss this thread.

I disagree - why do posters need to criticize fighters? All these men climbed between the ropes and put themselves at great risk.

Just because one guy likes a fighter and wants to call him great some other guy thinks it's his obligation to demean that fighter.

One guy here hates Toney, another Holmes, another Ali, another Dempsey, another Carpentier, another Louis, ETC. For what reason do they feel the need to discredit these men's effort?

The truth is they attack these fighters because they want to make the other poster look ignorant and the POINTLESS end of all this is the discrediting of a great fighter.

        WHY?

These posts are not history they are pissing contests between self proclaimed expert posters resulting in nothing more than demeaning accomplished men.

I don't get it! What does this have to do with boxing's history?

As long as they're not personal attacks(not that I haven't done that to fighters) I don't see the issue. People are just talking about boxing, which includes trying to analyze techniques. Some think this fighter did that well, others think another did that better. This fighter had a great resume, maybe this one had a better one. It's just discussion, that's what message boards are for. It's not a strict fandom tribute site. Once you stop worshipping these fighters as deities(not saying you do but plenty others do) it won't seem demeaning anymore.

            - - Doogie one of them invertebrates who wash up lifeless on the beach from time to time.

In short, the genius of Joe Louis is wasted upon the fraud lover of the wastrel Tyson Flubber that the other little Doogie has elevated into the stratosphere of Ring lore.

Please ignore BKM's invitation and don't stick around here. We really don't need anymore churl wipes who think they are doing analysis while they cheapen the word. We are full up, cowboy. Now run long.

Guess what, dummy? There are all kinds of people who did not know these boxers' former names. Several of these posters have already contacted me. I guess you felt baited. They felt educated.

Didn't I post that some time ago?

I don't believe your motivation. Why didn't you place their ****** name next to their Anglo name?

I may well be a dummy but I'm not deceitful in my posts, intentions, or actions. You are!

Just one little thing. The bastard was definitely a dirty fighter. He used his elbows a lot in the clinch and a bit less noticable was how he would crouch and then stand back up straight which would produce a headbutt. He knew all the tricks and bragged about it on camera(on the old HBO docu Mike Tyson's Greatest Hits) he learned by watching old footage of the greats, the toothless bastard.

One day, somebody did it to him and he started crying and biting. But that's a story for another thread.
Thanks. People like to talk about how skillful he was early in his career so I guess that’s also when he wasent as well known for some of the stuff he did. I watched the first Bruno v Tyson fight again the other day. Bruno fought him tough for a while. Mike gets credit cause Bruno gave Lewis a real tough fight at first also. I’ve never seen much in Bruno but he looked better than I remembered.
People love the idea of Mike Tyson more than anything else. That’s okay. That can be a great compliment.
I thank Mike for being the great star that he was. We supported his fights, his game, his videos.

Rarely ever jab? His slip jab was one of his trademark moves.
Mike is all “Trademark” moves, cause you’ve seen them in all his fights regardless of who it is. He just cycles through his set list.
How often does his jab even land on that move? How often is there even a punch to slip after? It’s just another move he does that everyone has seen enough to call trademark, that’s not really a great thing.
That move if famous from his training videos and him showing it to people in person throughout the years and to this day. Plus it was never about actually landing the jab or dodging a retaliatory punch.
