And who ever fought Lewis on the inside? Care to show us what you are talking about?

More BS triangle theory... involving Mercer and Bowe... Triangle theory is the last vestige of the casual... Before one is dragged into the reality that styles often determine fights. Mercer was a tough journeyman... If given a chance he would win and in fact, may have deserved the nod against Lewis. But most of that can be attributed to human consistency.
    It's fun watching you squirm.

I think one day you'll make meaningful contributions, so I refuse to give up on you. But you have a while to go, padawan.

Defication should take place in the toilet Rusty... One day you might stop using this section for such... I refuse to give up on you

OK, so you really want daddy's attention...
Tell me, what's triangle theory, and how does it apply here?

Bowe outside the ring was a mess, but inside the ring he was always focused. In '93 he was still fit and sound. No reason to believe he was unable to do one better than Mercer would do several years later against an even better version of Lewis.
Not saying he wouldn't do better but to automatically assume he would beat Lewis of the results of that fight is IMO is misleading. I remember that before the Lewis fight Mercer was well known for having one of the best chins in boxing.

Ill do one better and make a thread, not to pick on you but this is in fact a point of some confusion.

I really do not want your attention, just want you to stop saying the most ridiculous things and to provide proof of your contentions.

I never said automatically, so let me reiterate that I believe this fight favors Lewis stylistically. It's just that men who were poor facsimiles of Bowe did quite well against a more mature version of Lewis. We can throw in the Bruno fight while we're at it. I also wanted to make the point that Lewis looked best when he believed his opponents were at their worst, otherwise a lack of confidence seemed to overcome him. For me it's a pick-em. Lewis should win, but it depends on whether he thinks that too or not.

Those fights are more telling than the amateur bout between Lewis and Bowe folks normally reference. Willie Pep's post said all that needs to be said on that subject.

I wasn't responding to you in my initial post. I was responding to the thread in general. I got the sense that some people were making that assumption. I think it would be a very competitive fight also.

Mercer wasn't intimidated by Lewis' power, and didn't permit him space to establish his jab. Lewis felt Mercer's power and opted not to push the fight. There's nothing disputable about that. At his best Lewis would falter when his competition didn't. He did great when his opponent was considered DOA (Golota, Holyfield I, Tua, Botha, Tyson) and that's what he expected in the rematch with Holyfield and attempted to hoodwink Vitali. We know how those fights blew up in his face.

Lewis could be beaten on the inside. You're crazier than we have already established if you believe Holyfield had greater power than Bowe.

Again, it's well established that Bowe beat Holyfield twice - stopping him in the rubbermatch. It's well established that Bowe was a much more overwhelming force offensively than Mercer.

If Lewis is to win this fight, it's like Golota, by winning a battle of the jabs. That's reasonable to expect, except that Lewis didn't have Golota's beard or in-fighting ability. Bowe showed tremendous heart in that fight, real resilience. He's not going to go down like a Frank Bruno or Razor Ruddock.
If you want to use comparisons to fights between Bowe and Golotta. Lewis annihilated Golotta but Bowe was in his way to losing before the low blows.

And Berbick beat Ali while Foreman was stopped inside 8...
