Affordable Care Act (*****care) and Why it Sucks

I want to give you folks here and in other countries an idea of how much of a disaster this thing is, and why it needs to be repealed as soon as possible. Here is an example of a Bronze package plan (which is the starting plan) for a young single male who makes 45K+.

Your premium (monthly payment) is on average $258.

Your deductible (amount you have to pay before *****care kicks in for bills) is $7,150.

So what this means is that not only do you pay $258 a month ($3,096 a year), but God forbid you land in the hospital you will still have to pay an additional $7,150 before your healthcare kicks in, so if you land in the hospital in December that's means you will pay over $10,000 before *****care starts paying for health care.

Now say you make $25,000 a year, well your monthly premium will be about $50 a month, but your deductible is still $7,150! You still will need to pay over $7000 before you get serious assistance.

Most informed and educated Americans were promised that premiums would go down by $2500 numerous times, instead they went up literally $5000. Also most informed and educated Americans didn't expect their deductibles to go up to over $7000.

*****care is crap, and the system we had before, which was the same exact system but with much cheaper and affordable insurance that didn't force you to purchase insurance or get penalized was way better. The only difference is, where there were 40 million uninsured people before, there are now 20 million uninsured people, half of those insured still not able to afford healthcare but are paying for something nonetheless that needs over $7000-$11000 out of pocket costs before it kicks in.

That's actually absolutely outrageous. It's literally saying we have a problem, 40 million Americans are uninsured because they cannot afford insurance, therefore lets make them all get insurance that they still cannot afford if something goes wrong, but make them pay the monthly premiums anyways.

What we had before *****care, before premiums literally increased by $5000 a year, and deductibles skyrocketed was absolutely better.

What *****care did was forced uninsured people to buy insurance that they still couldn't afford or else pay a fine.

One of the very few positives of *****care is the clause not to exclude folks with pre existing conditions, or to skyrocket their insurance.

It wasn't the same exact animal, it was better. It was the same in the sense that people could still choose their healthcare, if wasn't the same in the sense that back then the healthcare was much much cheaper!

The profits made by health insurance companies back in 2008 prior to *****care was 8 billion, in 2015 they were 15 billion, so you tell me which program benefits the insurance companies.

*****care is a bad program and I don't know why people on the left are so adamant about keeping it.

The NHS is free to all in theory though anyone that earns over £10k a yr or so gets a percentage taken off thier salary automatically to pay for this, its called National Insurance, all hospital services free,Doctor appointments are free and in Scotland atleast prescriptions are subsidised by the Scottish goverment .Thats the jist of it but is by no means perfect, waiting times in Accident&Emergency and other hospital appoinments etc you can be waiting a long time so rich people might choose go private if available.
