Theres more to do at home now, than ever before. Mostly thanks to the PC.

The streets were dangerous (at least in my area) when I was growing up. We had plenty of drug dealers/gangs/fights around BUT there was a lot to do. We used to play football (soccer for you yanks), cricket, ride bikes, hang out, go to eat and so on. If there was nothing going on, we'd make something to do or just chill out. Good times, best times of my life. You cherish those moments once you grow older. Im only 23 and sounding like an old man lol but yeah man, life starts becoming all about getting those qualifications and jobs.

you are 24, its a different era now.

one of the "internet kids" ^

in my day we called you guys "lunch money." NE would f#cking pound on you, and then intimidate you into going out for the lax team, where'd he'd pound on you some more, and show you the meaning of the words "strong as f#ck," "fast," and "pain."

now stop changing my user title. seriously. nobody likes you. you've never said anything funny in your life.

you've got to be a total nutcase if you're changing everybody's usertitle (which takes a lot of time,) and you're the only one enjoying it.

        two things:

        1. people are living in cities at a much greater rate.

it's not something i understand, but some kids don't have woods to play in, trees to climb, sticks to fight with, rivers to drown in, etc.

        2.

        these n#####s are soft.

I was hanging with two old friends whom are big gamers and whilst they agree, one has kids and all he/they do is play games loads.

The bike thing in particular is key I think. Kids used to explore on em so get exercise, fun and social skills all at the same time. The streets aren't any more dangerous. Parents are just more paranoid about pedo files, preferring to lazily buy them games so they are tucked up indoors all the time.

It's definitely no more dangerous. As with many things, I blame the media

Kids are almost always going to choose video games and television over outside activities. The sensory overload that those games offer is second only to getting your dink ******.

The problem is parents are so quick to give their kids all of this stuff. My little brother is in 6th grade and he says the majority of the class has smart phones, he doesn't though (alpha parents). Kids don't need an iphone, so why are parents buying them these?

Video games are fine but it is easy to get ****** into playing them for hours parents need to limit the amount of time available playing them. That is why after school sports are always so beneficial to kids. It shows them healthy competition, gets them exercises, and reduces the amount of time available for them to be bastards or play video games all day.

People always say 'kids these days' kids are always going to be the same. If you give these insane video games to the kids in the 50s they are going to play them just as much. The real problem is the parents not taking accountability over their kdis.

Very good post. My cousin who just turned 10 2 weeks ago got the new Iphone 5S for his birthday. Now he has an Ipad, ipod touch and iphone so whenever i see him he ignores everyone and just plays on them.

You are correct tho, its up to the parents. My mom got me a PS2 but would only let me play after i did my HW and played in the park. After a while she saw i started playing in the park less and playing video games more so so took my PS2 away and signed me up to the local baseball and basketball leagues. Video games are taking the easy way for the parents. they just sit there for hours and you dont have to watch them
