You are looking at 5-7 felony charges added on to the top count, most of the time.

If you you don't have a mouth piece, and rely on a dump truck of a public defender, you are washed.

Because a lot of the times, the D.A's and Public Defenders broker deals over people's lives over a drink at the local "hot spot".

It's not even a matter of black vs white. It's green.
    that's another thing.

if you have a private attorney , you get much better deals.

especially if they got connections to the d.a.

the attorney for my last case was so connected it wasn't even funny.

i had 12 counts against me AND i was on probation.

the mofo went up to me in visiting one day , "how much time you want to do?"

    i was like , "what?"

he was like , "tell me how much time you want to do."

    i was like , "1-2 years"

    he said , "okay."

didn't see him again for a couple months.

next time i saw him he got 10 of the 12 dropped. i was to plead to 2 of the lesser counts and i was out the next year.

he wouldn't have gotten me that.

i didn't think he was getting me 1-2.

besides i didn't want to leave at the time.

a few of my closest friends were in there with me. they had a separate case and i knew i was probably never gonna see them again.

that's why i asked my lawyer to keep me in county for as long as he can before i had to go to state.

i got to spend a good year with them.

yeah but it sort of sounded like a case where he didn't have a shot at that. House arrest was the next best thing.

If you can prove your intent was to deter and not murder you're all good

                    Aye.

Back in my "bad old days", I was in the holding tank waiting on my sentence, and saw one guy walk who got caught with 40 pounds of tree in his trunk, and another guy get 25 for a spousal.
The judge who was handing out the "gifts" court transcriber was killed in a domestic violence case, I found out later.

Pretty much cemented my thinking in blowing off some steam and hit a Zig-Zag, or putting hands on a woman.
