But...

He did 'retire' so you can make an argument that he 'retired' the Lineal Champion and made a comeback 3 yrs later without that title I suppose.

Nobody believed fury, they just took it as having a bad day with bipolar or whatever fury has. Or they just took it as frustration fights didnt get made, fury always seemed to be training for fight that gets cancelled.

Nobody believed Mayweather. But he was still stripped. When you say you're retired you're stripped, that's how it's always been. He's also a PED cheat. People are trying to change the rules to accommodate the cheat. Doesn't work like that. In the record books he's not lineal anymore.
